Central Oconee Church of Christ The Central Oconee Church of Christ is located in Bishop, GA, just north of Watkinsville. Sunday school begins at 9:30am, with Sunday worship at 10:30am.

Starting in November, mid-week Bible study will start at 6:00pm on Wednesday nights.

2. Vs. 12: being a part of His purpose gives us confidence/faith

3. Vs. 13-21: Even in the face of "afflictions" we can know the power of God

Sunday, August 30: We continue examining the "Words of Christ" as recorded in the gospels. This week's passage comes from John 1:38 as Jesus asked two of the disciples following him, "What do you seek?" The purpose of this study is for us to better understand the significance of the words spoken by Christ and that those words provide the perfect example for Christians.

This week’s sermon continues our study on “The Words of Christ”. My purpose during this study is to show that the words spoken by Christ help Christians understand why he came to earth, that those words reflect his teachings and his words provide the perfect example on how we should live. Our message this week illustrates the three simple words Jesus responded with to avoid being tempted by Satan: ‘It is written.” (Matthew 4:1 – 11 and Luke 4:1 – 13)

The message this week begins a series of sermons I plan to provide over the coming months about the words of Christ, beginning with Mark 1:14 – 15, “Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God, 15 and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near (is at hand); repent, and believe in the good news.” The words spoken by Christ helps Christians understand his purpose, his teachings and they provide the perfect example on how we should live.
