In recognition, tomorrow is celebrated by many as Pentecost, from the Greek root meaning "fiftieth ". It was celebrated by the Jews forty nine days after the Passover feast. We, as Christians, celebrate that extraordinary event when God sent the Holy Spirit to the 120 in the upper room fulfilling prophecy-including John the Baptists "He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire". For the Jews, fire symbolized the presence of God and purification.
My prayer is that this Sunday, the Holy Spirit decends on our services bringing Gods presence and a spirit of purification for us. We need this and we welcome it. Prepare your heart and come expecting.

If anyone deserves to be celebrated and remembered, its our friend, Sister in Christ, our Nana Vivian. She leaves a legacy of devoted Christian love to all who knew her. Her family will be at Phillips Funeral Home in Star tonight from 6-8 to accept your condolences. Her service is at 2pm at New Birth Church tomorrow (Wednesday) and the burial will be at Dover Baptist Church following the service. Please pray for the family and friends as we grieve our loss but also rejoice in her heavenly homecoming.
