Last week in Malachi 3, we saw that God's confrontation with Israel wasn't ultimately about money.

✨ It was about trust.

Israel's giving problem revealed a deeper issue: they had drifted from trusting God.

How often does this also happen with us?

Sometimes it shows up in our finances. Sometimes it shows up in our schedules, relationships, plans, or priorities.

But God's response is remarkable. He doesn't say, "Fix yourself first." He says: "Return to me, and I will return to you." (Malachi 3:7)

We believe discipleship happens in honest conversations and real relationships. We'd love to see those conversations continue throughout the week.

Summer usually looks a little different around here. GCs meet less formally, people travel, routines shift. And that's okay.

But when you're in town, let's gather. Show up on Sundays for worship. Have people over, cookout together, enjoy an evening at the pool, and enjoy one each others company.

Let's remember to gather well, and scatter well, Immanuel Church.

This past Sunday, Joseph Rhea and his family were commissioned and sent out by their church family at Redeemer Community Church to join us here at Immanuel. We are so grateful for Redeemer and the way they love and release people for the sake of the gospel in Birmingham and beyond.

On May 10th, our church enthusiastically supported a call to Joseph as our Teaching Pastor. His first official Sunday will be later this summer. Between now and then, he and his family will be worshipping with us and getting to know the congregation.

And as our kids often say it best — we love you, Mr. Joseph, and we are so excited to welcome you and your wonderful family to Immanuel!
