✨ BEHIND THE SERVE: APRIL MCCLENDON ✨

If you’ve walked through the doors of Overton Church, chances are you’ve been greeted by April McClendon! 👋💛

April serves as one of our amazing greeters and also spends time loving on our littlest church family in the nursery. From welcoming you with a smile to keeping those tiny hands and feet cared for, she’s always ready to serve! 🥰👶

But that’s not all! April also jumps in to help cook for church events — and let us just say… this girl can COOK! 👩‍🍳🔥 If there’s food involved, we’re pretty happy to have April in the kitchen! 😂

She’s helping make sure everyone feels welcome — from the moment you walk through the doors to the moment you leave (and maybe making sure you leave well-fed, too 😉).

And let’s be honest… if you can survive nursery duty AND feed a crowd, you deserve a special kind of crown! 😂👑

We’re so thankful for April and the joy, kindness, and servant’s heart she brings to Overton!

This is the reason we give. Thankful for another that has given their heart to Jesus!!

We just wrapped up INSPIRE Fiji and there were so many spiritual markers in the lives of the women and girls but here’s a favorite.

This 14 year old girl, Leandra, came with her mom who was invited by a work colleague. One day 1 she accepted Christ and on day 2 she was baptized in the Holy Spirit and received her very first Bible. 🙌

Please continue to pray for Leandra and she begins her new life in Christ.

✨ BEHIND THE SERVE: JAMES MONTGOLF ✨

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on the real guy behind the scenes — James Montgolf! 🙌

James serves in so many ways around Overton Church. You can find him on our worship team, helping with maintenance around the building, running the cameras for livestream, and making sure everything is ready to go before most of us even walk through the doors!

He’s often one of the first ones at church — turning on the lights, unlocking the doors, getting things ready, and yes… making sure the A/C is on and blowing! 😂🙌 Can I get an amen?!

So much of what James does happens behind the scenes, but his faithfulness and willingness to serve do not go unnoticed. We are so thankful for his servant’s heart and all the ways he helps make Overton Church feel like home! 💛

Thank you, James, for all you do!

What a beautiful Sunday in the house of the Lord! 🤍🙌

We worshipped together through Enter the Gates, The King Is in the Room, Great Are You Lord, and Abide. 🎶 What a powerful reminder that when we enter His presence, everything changes.

Yesterday, we talked about the woman at the well and the moment she encountered Jesus. She came looking for water, but she found something so much greater. After meeting Jesus, she left her water bucket behind.

That bucket represented the thing she had come searching for to satisfy her thirst. And sometimes, we are holding onto things, chasing things, and returning to things that we think will satisfy us—but they never truly do.

The world will always leave us thirsty. Jesus is the only One who can truly satisfy our souls. 💧✨

Maybe it’s time to leave your “water bucket” behind—the things you’ve been carrying and searching for that will never fulfill you—and run to the One who gives living water. 🙏

And what a JOY it was to celebrate as Leslie Cook was baptized! 🌊🤍 What a beautiful declaration of a life changed by Jesus!

“But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.” — John 4:14

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mr. Windell Sloan.

We are thankful for the life he lived, the love he shared, and the impact he made on the lives of those around him. Please join us in keeping his family and loved ones in your prayers during this difficult time.

Following the service, Mr. Sloan will be laid to rest at Forest Crest Cemetery.

✨ BEHIND THE SERVE: AUDREY STEWART ✨

We’re kicking off a new series here at Overton Church — Behind the Serve! 🙌

First up is someone who truly embodies what it means to serve with a servant’s heart: Audrey Stewart! 💛

Audrey serves in our Children’s Department, helps keep our café running, and is always willing to step in and serve wherever she’s needed. Whether it’s something big or something behind the scenes, Audrey serves with joy, love, and a heart for the Kingdom. 🫶

We are so thankful for her willingness to say “yes” and serve wherever God calls her!

Yesterday at Overton Church, we were reminded of a powerful truth: God’s highest goal for our lives is not our happiness, but His glory. 🙌

We weren’t created simply to chase what makes us happy or comfortable. We were called to live holy, surrendered lives that point others to Jesus. When we serve Him, obey Him, and give Him every part of our lives, He is glorified through us.

“As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. We are called to something greater than happiness—we are called to holiness.
