This Sunday, May 31st, FPC will welcome Dr. Letitia Campbell (she/her) as our guest preacher! Letitia Campbell is Associate Professor in the Practice of Ethics and Society at Candler School of Theology at Emory University, where she also directs the Contextual Education I and CPE Programs. Her academic research focuses on the history of Christian internationalism, the role of religious activism in social movements, and the history, experiences, and impact of LGBTQ+ religious leaders.
A native Atlantan who was raised in Mobile, Alabama, she is proud to be associated with the Solutions Not Punishments Coalition, the Collective, and other grassroots justice-makers. She has taught religious studies at colleges and universities and as part of the Certificate for Theological Studies at Lee Arrendale State Prison. She has also worked as a journalist and has experience helping grassroots and religious groups develop capacity for faith-based anti-racism organizing. She was an inaugural board member for the LGBTQ Institute at The National Center for Civil and Human Rights.
Letitia holds a Ph.D. from Emory University, an M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary in New York City, a B.A. in Political Science and Gender Studies from Davidson College, and a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Oxford University. Letitia is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and a member of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta. We hope you’ll join us!
