With UAB's COVID guidelines I haven't been on campus much the past 10 months or so. It's almost like a ghost town. Parking is readily available. I still can't enter the student center, but I could see the inside is pretty barren. These restrictions are obviously the right call with 500k American deaths...a staggering and sombering number. I'm cherishing any minute I can get with students during these challenging times. All this to say I hope you all are staying safe and healthy, and I pray these vaccines are a knockout blow to this horrible virus. I know we are all longing to return to a bit of normalcy and for the communal living we were designed for to return in full. God bless!

Today is the start of another semester at UAB. This year has been incredibly challenging and I suspect we still have many challenging months ahead as we continue to navigate life with COVID. We are still on the hunt for team members and new supporters. Please let us know if you know anyone interested in these things, and please be in prayer for us as we begin another semester!

Happy Thanksgiving from The Hub! It's been a trying and difficult year. In these times I've tried to learn to cherish the little moments more than I have in the past. I hope you all are healthy and well. I've been incredibly blessed in that regard so far. I'm thankful for everyone who has encouraged, supported, shared our journey so far! God bless you all!

Hello everyone! Just wanted to ask for a word of prayer. One of our students (who we haven't been in physical contact yet) has tested positive for COVID, so please be in prayer for them and the rest of UAB students as we try to navigate this semester safely!

Welcome back UAB students! It will be an interesting semester for us all. While we aren't really allowed on campus, we still want to try to safely meet masked and distanced throughout the semester, hold online small groups, etc. If you're interested in any of these things or just want to talk, please let us know! We'll provide updates of when and where we will try to meet up whether in person or online!

Hello friends! We're approaching the unknown of a Fall semester at UAB in the midst of a pandemic. It's a fluid situation, but it's looking like hybrid on and off campus classes without the ability to use the student center. I know it's a trying time for everyone, but we're going to do our best to serve students through online services and trying to continue our relational style of ministry in a safe, socially distanced, and masked manner. To do this we still need to raise funds just to be present on campus, much less provide for the students there. If you have the means, please consider giving to The Hub. You can find our PayPal and Direct Deposit services on our website www.thehubuab.com. God bless!

With COVID hitting, it's been quiet on the ministry front for a while. Here are a few words about the time we're in and where we're hoping to go in the future.

We’re in a time of great unveiling. We’re still in the midst of a global pandemic. Last I checked, 21 states showed record spikes the last week or so, including Alabama. I’ll be honest, it doesn’t seem like many people around here are too worried. I’m seeing fewer and fewer masks and regar...

Happy Easter! Today we celebrate our risen savior. Jesus' death and resurrection continues to fill us with wonder and mystery. We celebrate the defeat of the principalities and powers. We celebrate that death no longer has the final word. We celebrate the launching of God's new creation. We celebrate that we too will share in Jesus' resurrection. God give us the strength and wisdom to carry this message of love and hope to the world. Amen!

Well...we’re in the middle of unprecedented times. Does it not feel a bit apocalyptic? Let me rephrase...normal life has most certainly changed, but life in the grocery store definitely seems apocalyptic. It took me 3-4 trips this week to find more toilet paper, chicken, and milk. I’m still on t...

Hello everyone! This week I'm in Atlanta visiting our friends at Bread Oxford. They have a great campus ministry serving the students of Oxford College of Emory University. It's great to spend time with another young campus ministry to learn and see their successes and struggles. There are so many college students around the country that need places like these to find community, hope, and belonging. The Hub could still use your prayers as I continue to seek team members to join me on this mission and add $1500 to our monthly giving. God bless!

Martin Luther King, Jr. was a true prophet for the Kingdom of God. The biggest mistake we could make in light of his efforts and sacrifice is to pretend the work he started has been in any way completed. It was only the beginning. This letter had a huge impact on me when I first read it, and I take time to read it every year on MLK day. Please take time to read this and think about how we are working towards racial reconciliation. We could all stand to be more like the late, great MLK.
