Arrived intact in Norfolk, VA, home of Naval Station Norfolk, United States Navy base home port of the U.S. Navy's Fleet Forces Command. The installation occupies about 4 miles of waterfront space and 11 miles of pier and wharf space of the Hampton Roads peninsula known as Sewell's Point.

US Navy (USN) Military Sealift Command (MSC) appointment confirmed

Received a call early Friday morning 9.20.2024 AD confirming my acceptance into the USN MSC as a Medical Service Officer (MSO).

A 2 year contract has been signed: 16 months ship assignment duty / 2 years, rotating 4 months on, 2 months off (if a replacement is available).

Orientation begins in Norfolk, VA on Monday, October 7th, and runs for 2 weeks.

This is followed by up to 6 weeks training at either Ft. Eustis in Williamsburg, VA, or in San Diego, CA.

Then I am put in a pool awaiting ship assignment by a "Detailer." My US East Coast homebase will likely be Norfolk, VA. I will be the only medical provider on the ship.
