Praise God and thanks to Gov Ivey for choosing life for Toforest Johnson!

Let us hope and work for justice and freedom for him, as well.

Until then, we celebrate this very good news. 💚

BREAKING: GOVERNOR IVEY COMMUTES THE DEATH SENTENCE OF TOFOREST JOHNSON

Governor Kay Ivey has commuted the death sentence of Toforest Johnson to life without the possibility of parole.

Johnson has spent more than 25 years on Alabama's death row for a crime he has consistently maintained he did not commit. Despite no physical evidence or eyewitness testimony connecting him to the 1995 murder of a Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy, Johnson was convicted largely on the testimony of a single "earwitness".

Jefferson County District Attorney Danny Carr, former state supreme court justices, a former Alabama attorney general, the original state prosecutor, and three of the jurors who originally convicted him have all advocated for commutation or overturning of his conviction.

In case you received an email claiming otherwise, our Beloved Nancy Sales has sound limbs and does not need surgery.

Someone hacked her email and caused concern-to-panic.

Nancy is well-known and much loved, so we are helping her set folks' minds at ease.

If you opened the email from "her" claiming she broke her right femur, we advise you scan your account to ensure no malware attached to it. And maybe change your password.

We give thanks to God her limbs are whole!

Uphold the dignity of every person!

Nonviolence teaches us that accountability and human dignity are not opposites.

Turning an ex*****on into public viewing does not move us closer to justice. It normalizes violence and risks making us more comfortable with taking human life.

We believe justice must reject vengeance and uphold the dignity of every person, even in the face of profound harm.
