Yesterday, we commissioned Joseph Rhea and his family to as he takes their role of Teaching Pastor. Over the years, we’ve been blessed to commission a range of members to other local churches, and each of these moments has been incredibly special.

Birmingham is exceptionally blessed to have so many gospel-preaching churches, and Redeemer is just one small part of what God is doing in and through our city. Commissioning Joseph and his family comes with sadness and joy – sadness that some of our favorite people are leaving, and joy in knowing that Redeemer is doing exactly what it exists to do. God placed the Rheas with us for a time, and now His purposes have led them to bless another church family entirely. That’s not loss – that’s God’s plan working the way it’s supposed to, moving beyond our walls for His glory.

Commitment Sunday was just the beginning.

We’re deeply grateful for the way our church family has responded with generosity, faith, and trust in what God is building among us. As we continue tallying pledges and moving toward a total, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes as we move toward sharing an update with the church.

💬 When will we hear a total?
💬 Can I still turn in a pledge?
💬 What if someone is just now wanting to learn more or get involved?

We’ve answered these questions in the slides above! Take a moment to swipe through so you don’t miss what’s next for us as a church family.

Every spring brings a bittersweet moment as we send off many of our college students, some for the summer and others for the last time. We are deeply grateful for the joy and life they’ve brought to our church, and it was a gift to pray over them a couple of Sundays ago.

That same Sunday also marked Commitment Sunday, the fruit of much prayer as we step forward in faith toward our future home. As we ask the Lord to provide in ways only He can, we’re already seeing His faithfulness through the generosity of His people.

As if the day couldn’t get any better, we gathered as a church family at our Common Meal, sharing laughter, conversation, and plenty of ice cream. It was a sweet reminder that we are not brought together by common interests, but by our shared life in Christ.

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been encouraging our church family to prayerfully consider how the Lord is calling us to give towards our church’s new home. This moment is both a gift and an invitation to consider how the Lord is shaping our hearts toward generosity and trust in Him.

Today marks the culmination of this process, and we hope you will submit your pledge to the For Generations to Come campaign.

Ready to pledge?
Place your pledge cards in the pledge boxes near the entrances or at this evening’s Common Meal.

Need a pledge card?
There are plenty of cards and envelopes available at both entrances.

Still praying about it?
If you're not ready to commit, we encourage you to fill out a card and simply write "Still praying."

Prefer filling one out online?
You can fill out a card online at forgens.org/give

When will we know the result?
It'll take an enormous effort to tally all of the pledges and track down missing info. We expect to announce the result in mid-May!

Spring is the perfect time to gather, and we’re especially looking forward to Sunday’s Common Meal at ! The barbecue is on its way, the kids’ activities are lined up, and we’re eager to spend the evening together as a church family. We’re keeping an eye on the weather, but right now it looks like we should be good to go.

Just a reminder that these evenings are for everyone. We’ve planned for plenty of food, so bring a friend or neighbor along. There will be lots for kids to enjoy, from inflatables to an ice cream truck! Everything kicks off at 5 PM.

Lastly, if you’d like to jump in and help make the evening run smoothly, you can sign up at rccbirmingham.org/commonmeals.

Part of Redeemer’s heart has always been to be a church marked by deep hospitality, joyful fellowship, and faithful evangelism. These convictions shape everything we do and continue to guide us as we look ahead. They do not stand alone but strengthen one another in a beautiful rhythm. Hospitality opens the door, fellowship gathers around the table, and evangelism shares the gospel across it.

As we experience the redemption of the gospel ourselves, we are compelled to open the door again and welcome someone new. We hope you will take a few minutes to watch our newest film and see how these convictions have brought us to this moment. forgens.com/convictions

This Thursday evening, is opening the sanctuary for a time of prayer and worship. As we've been calling our church family to seek the Lord, especially in this season, we want to create space to come, be still, and listen for the One who orders our steps.

Come and go as you feel led anytime between 7 and 8:30 PM. We'll have soft worship music playing throughout as you move through your own time of prayer.

Last Saturday, we had a work day where our church family spent the morning cleaning up our new property (and maybe a few of us picked up some poison ivy along the way 😅). It was a joy to serve side by side, getting our hands dirty and caring for a space that will hold so much life in the days ahead. Thank you to everyone who showed up with willing hands and hearts. We’re so grateful to be building this together with you.
