Pastor: It's Not A Career Or A "Job" That We've Chosen To Do...
It's A Life and A Lifestyle We've Been Called and Set Aside To Live!
14 Years Ago Today, On May 27, 2012 I Was Ordained Into The
Baptist Clergy And Began Walking In The Pastoral Ministry.

And Every Day Of My Life Since, I Have Determined, Despite All My Human Failures, Faults and Propensity to Fall Into Foolishness, To Stay True To The 3 Things That The LORD Told Me I Would Need To "Be" In Order To Walk In The Ministry To Which He Had Called Me:

Be Available.
Be Willing; and
Be Faithful.

📖 I Timothy 1:12 📖
And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

I Thank God Because I Have Been Blessed To Serve As An Associate Pastor Alongside Several "Good and Faithful Servants" and Continue To This Day To Be Mentored By and Enjoy The Privilege of Being In The Company of Some Of The "Best Black Baptist Pastors, Preachers, Teachers and Church Leaders On This Side of Heaven!"

While These 14 Years Have Not All Been Easy (God Never Promised That It Would Be...) It Still Goes Without Saying That My Life, My Family, and My Ministry Have All Been Blessed Immeasurably. I wanted to give our Faithful Followers an update. The Word Alive Community Campus is on Hold due to Birmingham Re-Zoning approval. Birmingham is experiencing a Housing Crisis. Therefore, we have decided to go in a New direction to assist our Birmingham Homeowners who are experiencing per-foreclose or high vacancy rates by establishing subleasing for corporate renters. This will promote an increase of home equity and improved credit for Homeowners, stronger community stability in neighborhoods and overall increase economic stability for Birmingham. This is the Merritt Family Enterprises Transitional/Corporate Leasing Housing Program. This Initiative provides clean, safe and Community for Veterans, Working Professionals, Traveling Nurses, Municipal Contractors and alike in need of Short-To Medium Term Housing (30 to 180 Days). We in development of our new website to recruit Homeowners/Corporate Insurance Companies and other entities to benefit as they grow. As this program grows, a second initiative will be our Lease to Own Program for Low Income Families.
We, the Merritt Family Enterprises have been bootstrapping the Transitional/Corporate Leasing Housing Program that is now at the end of its Starting Phase. Were It Not For His Pastoral Leadership, His Patient and Loving Guidance, His Personal Mentorship and His "I-Can-Show-Ya Better Than I-Can-Tell-Ya" Example We Can State Unequivocally and With Absolute Certainty That NONE of The Great Things That Have Come Through Our Church and Its Ministry Could Have or Would Have Happened. America Is Afflicted With A 3-Fold Sickness That's Killing It/Us...
Bigotry & Hatred - Fueling Unrepentant, Unrestricted Racism...
Arrogance & Hubris - Embodied In Our Reckless Militarism...
Corruption & Greed - "Rugged Individualism" aka Capitalism...

This Diagnosis Is By No Means New... In August of 1967, At
The First National Conference on New Politics, Rev. Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. Delivered It In A Speech to That Organization.
His Positions On The Matter Were So Accurate and Profound That The Speech Was Printed, Published and Widely Disseminated. He Also Spoke To It From A Spiritual Perspective In Several of His Sermons.

Exactly 1 Year Before His Death, On April 4, 1967, At Riverside Church In New York City, Dr. King Officially Broke His Silence About The War In Vietnam in A Speech Entitled "Beyond Vietnam." In That Speech, He Confirmed His Commitment to Fighting The "Triple Evils" of Poverty, Racism and Militarism By Reminding And Warning Us That

"A Nation That Continues Year After Year To Spend More Money
On Military Defense Than On Programs Of Social Uplift Is
Approaching Spiritual Death."

Some Historians, Scholars and Writers Have Argued That, With The
Delivery of That Speech, Dr. King and His Organization, The Southern Christian Leadership Council (SCLC) "Officially" Expanded The Fight for Civil Rights In America From A Battle to Obtain Rights and Privileges of Citizenship For Blacks and Other Minorities In America to A "War Against Poverty" and A Fight For Both Social Justice and Economic Equality.

Others, (Myself Included) Argue That His "Coming Out Against The War In Vietnam" Led To Dr. King's Fall From Favor in America. It Led To His Being Labeled "Un-American" and Being Called A "Traitor." It Subsequently Led to Many of His Followers, Funders, Political and Social Supporters Abandoning Both Dr. King and The Movement.

This Isolated Dr. King Politically and Socially So Much So That, When He Was Killed A Year Later On April 4, 1968, He Was Not The "Universally Loved And Accepted Civil Rights Leader" That He Has Come To Be Known As Today (A Fact That Many Historians, Politicians and Social Commentators Conveniently Forget).

I Also Find It Interesting, Personally, That A Study Of The Rise and Fall of Kings, of God's People Israel, And Of The Nations, Cultures and Societies Around Them In The Bible Reveals That All Three of These "Dis-eases" Hatred, Hubris and Greed... Were Both Present and Derived From Character Flaws Related To Individual (Personal) Immorality and Spiritual Depravity Manifested As Character Deficiencies That Always Seemed To Start with Individuals (Typically The Kings/Rulers/Leaders) But Were Then Purposefully Perpetuated Enabling Them To Spread Like A Contagion That Ultimately Infects Whole Nations, Cultures and Societies....
