🌈📚 Your Story Belongs in the Library 📚🌈

This month, we invite you to explore our new display, "Understanding Pride Flags," which showcases the history and significance of various Pride flags and the communities they represent.

Libraries are places of discovery, learning, and understanding. Our shelves contain stories from people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. This display continues that tradition by highlighting symbols meaningful to many in our community and offering a chance to learn about their significance.

We recognize that not every display or topic will reflect everyone's personal experiences or viewpoints. One of the strengths of a library is the opportunity to encounter something new, learn about a neighbor's perspective, or discover a story different from your own. Even if this is a subject you haven't explored before, we encourage you to take a few moments to read the display with an open mind and a spirit of curiosity.

Whether you're seeking representation, learning about others, or simply interested in local or world history, we hope you'll stop by and take a look. At the George F. Johnson Memorial Library, everyone deserves the opportunity to find stories that inform, inspire, and help us better understand one another.

Your story belongs in the library—and so does the opportunity to learn about someone else's. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

🚨🚨🚨 CALLING ALL OF BINGHAMTON 🚨🚨🚨
Beginning July 1, our friends at The United Presbyterian Church of Binghamton will be running the UPC Overnight Center.

Under their new leadership, the Overnight Center will now be seven days a week (not just Sunday thru Thursday!) and have extended hours from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. This is a story of meeting peoples' needs, and not just running a program.

With this shift and expansion of services, we need help to make it happen. From volunteering your time, to helping with laundry, to prepping with food. If you're passionate about caring our neighbors, then visit www.upcbgm.org/volunteer to share your information. They'll be in touch as the start date gets closer.

Black clergy from across denominations returned to Selma this weekend as we are once again called to bear witness to the entrenched racism, fear, and violence in the United States.

Actions by the US Supreme Court and elsewhere in our government have laid bare once again the depths of anti-black sentiment that is so pervasive in this country. It was an honor to join in worship and witness with so many people of faith as we came together to say, "Never again."

Read more of the coverage in the The New York Times link below and follow Side With Love, linked below, for photos and livestreamed coverage of the weekend's events.
