Seven Sorrows of Our Lady
Feast Day September 15 and Friday in Passion Week
Our Lady's Seven Sorrows has its origin in Christian devotion which finds it fitting to associate her with the Passion of her Son. The Church, commemorating Mary's suffering, emphasizes her great and courageous love, which caused her to be so closely associated with the work of our Redemption. She was in very truth who, like Judith, faced with the distress and tribulation of her people, spared nothing to save us from ruin. By offering her Son for us, she became our Mother and we became her children.

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ I will begin this day.

I thank you, Lord, for having preserved me during the night. I will do my best to make all I do today pleasing to You and in accordance with Your will. My dear Mother Mary, watch over me this day. My Guardian Angel, take care of me. St. Joseph and all you saints of God, pray for me.

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, for all the poor souls in purgatory, for the intentions of all my relatives and friends, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father.

I wish to gain all the indulgences attached to the prayers I shall say and the good works I shall perform this day. Amen.

Saint John Chrysostom
Bishop and Doctor of the Church

Feast Day: September 13 (New), January 27 (Trad)
Patronage: orators, preachers, speakers, lecturers, education, epilepsy, Constantinople
Saint John Chrysostom was born to a Christian mother and a pagan Roman father. His father died, and his mother guided his education with the best of Christian and Greek philosophies and tutors. He became an eloquent orator (being called “Golden Mouth”), writing about the priesthood, marriage, and care for the poor and sick. His most famous homily is “On the Resurrection” and he edited the liturgy of St. Basil the Great. When he was Bishop of Constantinople, the empress Extoxia, exiled him because he was too influential. He died in exile, his last words were “Glory to God for all things”.

Please say an extra prayer for those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, or any mental illness, which is so rampant in our world today.

Everyone has a cross to bear, some harder than others. Smile and be kind to everyone you meet. Be a friend to that someone who is alone or could use a friend. Pray for them every day and make an effort to let them know that they are loved unconditionally.

Below is the prayer to Saint Dymphna, the patroness of those who suffer with nervous and mental afflictions:

Good Saint Dymphna, great wonder-worker in every affliction of mind and body, I humbly implore your powerful intercession with Jesus through Mary, the Health of the Sick, in my present need. (Mention it.) Saint Dymphna, martyr of purity, patroness of those who suffer with nervous and mental afflictions, beloved child of Jesus and Mary, pray to Them for me and obtain my request.

🕊️ A PRAYER FOR SEPTEMBER 11 AND ALL THOSE AFFECTED BY TRAGEDY

Today, we remember all those who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 attacks, their families, survivors, rescue workers, and everyone still carrying the pain of that day. We also remember people around the world affected by war, violence, earthquakes, floods, storms, fires, and other disasters.

🙏 Lord of mercy,

Comfort every grieving heart.
Strengthen every survivor.
Protect those facing danger and uncertainty.
Provide for families who have lost their homes, loved ones, or livelihoods.

Bring healing to communities affected by both human and natural disasters, and inspire people everywhere to respond with compassion, courage, and peace.

May those who have died rest in Your eternal peace, and may Your light shine upon all who mourn.

Through Christ our Lord.
