Spiritualist Church in Billerica

Spiritualist Church in Billerica The religion of Spiritualism came into existence in the 19th century. We believe the
existence of the soul is eternal; there is no death.

We are an evolving spiritual community with loving and dedicated members who serve others by offering the ritual of service, providing education and helping those in need of comfort and healing. We live by the Golden Rule. Each service has three parts: Spiritual healing by laying on of hands, an inspirational talk, and spirit greetings to individuals in the congregation. Each service is followed by coffee, conversation and fellowship.

Before our white brothers arrived to make us civilized men,
we didn't have any kind of prison. Because of this, we had no delinquents.
Without a prison, there can be no delinquents.
We had no locks nor keys and therefore among us there were no thieves.
When someone was so poor that he couldn't afford a horse, a tent or a blanket,
he would, in that case, receive it all as a gift.
We were too uncivilized to give great importance to private property.
We didn't know any kind of money and consequently, the value of a human being
was not determined by his wealth.
We had no written laws laid down, no lawyers, no politicians,
therefore we were not able to cheat and swindle one another.
We were really in bad shape before the white men arrived and I don't know
how to explain how we were able to manage without these fundamental things
that (so they tell us) are so necessary for a civilized society.

A groundbreaking DNA study published in 2024 finally confirmed what the Blackfeet Nation has known for generations: their ancestral presence in the Northern Plains stretches back around 18,000 years, far older than any written record. The study aligns with the Blackfeet’s oral history, providing scientific validation to their cultural heritage and identity.

This revelation is monumental, not just for the Blackfeet but for all indigenous nations. It sheds light on the deep-rooted connection between these people and the land they’ve inhabited for millennia. The study also challenges historical narratives that often overlooked or misrepresented indigenous peoples’ ties to the land, offering a fuller understanding of human history.

As the scientific community continues to unearth more about indigenous peoples’ histories, it is crucial to celebrate and acknowledge their stories, traditions, and contributions. This discovery empowers the Blackfeet Nation and all indigenous communities, reinforcing their place in the world’s history. 🧬🦅

Some say cities aren't for wildlife. Denmark disagrees. They're putting wildflower islands in the harbor and letting nature move in.

Copenhagen has introduced floating wildflower islands in its harbor as part of an effort to bring nature back into urban waterways. The project, known as "Copenhagen Islands" or "Parkipelago," was developed by Australian artist and architect Marshall Blecher and the Danish studio Fokstrot. The platforms are built from recycled materials and planted with wildflowers, grasses, and small trees.

The islands serve as habitats for birds, bees, insects, and marine life in an area that was previously open water surrounded by concrete. They float freely in the harbor and are accessible to kayakers and swimmers. Some are used by locals for picnics, while others are left untouched to serve as wildlife sanctuaries.

The project has drawn international attention as an example of how cities can integrate biodiversity into existing infrastructure without taking up land. Several of the islands have already attracted nesting birds and pollinators, proving that even small interventions can create meaningful change in urban ecosystems.

Dear Members.

The BOD regrets announcing the closure of the Billerica Church. During 2025 our church officers have experienced traumatic changes that affect our ability to meet the physical and administrative needs of the organization. After the treasurer resigned her position, the Pastor, Rev. Christine Nagle, experienced a serious injury that required extensive surgeries and rehabilitation which continues into the new year. While convalescing, her partner and our President, Roger Millen, passed to spirit, leaving the BOD reduced to three active members.
It is with great gratitude; we thank Rev. Nancy Smith for coming forward to continue services through the end of 2025. Serving Spirit is an intentional act, offered in love and service and our appreciation cannot be expressed adequately. The outcome is that we do not have sufficient membership and participation to continue in the current state.
The lawyer that drew up our charter has been contacted, and a decision will be made over the next six months or so to finalize the closure. By law, assets of the church must be dispersed to other religious organizations following the same or similar beliefs. Thank you for your support and efforts to keep our doors open. It is our hope that you will find another Spiritualist fellowship and continue to develop and unfold your spirituality.

Sincerely,
Rev. S.A. Frobese
Vice President

Unfortunately, after 11 years of being your pastor, I have been very challenged for the past 3 years with health issues and It's time for me to step away.

December 21 is the last service. The church is closing. I hope you come to this last service to say farewell.

I wish you all the very best as you continue on your spiritual journey.
