Good morning! Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, is tomorrow and is the day you may see people, including children, with cross-shaped smudges on their foreheads. Why? Ash Wednesday is a sobering outward reminder of our own mortality, that we were made of dust and shall eventually return to dust. Receiving the ashes triggers a time of deep reflection of our own frailty in life. In receiving the imposition of ashes, we are encouraged to live a life modeled after Jesus Christ and the good news of the Gospel.

The imposition of ashes is available to ANYONE of any age whose heart is inclined to follow the teachings of Christ.
