Last night the Faris family heard shots in front of our house. KayLeigh immediately called 911 and I waved one of the victims being shot at into our house. He collapsed on our floor as we controlled his bleeding.
The other victim died at the scene. As a chaplain I opened our office to the families of the deceased and also officers to stay warm and use the restroom and have coffee.
What happened next, is a testament to the community of faith. As people passed by and word got out, people reached out to us to make sure we were okay. Church members even came by to clean up the crime scene in our home.
Do we want to move. NO! We love our city! God put us here for a reason. What we did last night, every one who reached out to us would have done what we did. Pray for KayLeigh and Tena, and our dogs and cat who were traumatized by the incident, but now are thankful for what God allowed us to do.
Pray for the victims.
