Eid Adha Mubarak

The Islamic Center of Big Rapids announces that, Tuesday, May 26th, is "The day of Arafat" and Wednesday, May 27th, is the first day of Eid Al Adha.
We encourage you to keep on doing good in the remaining of these blessed days.

Eid prayer will be held at 9:00 on Wednesday May 27th inshallah. Everyone is welcome.

May God reward us all for our good deeds.

Alslamu Alikum

Tuesday July 16th, marks the day Allah parted the sea for prophet Moses (pbuh) and bani Israil, and they were able to safely cross the red sea away from the Pharoah and his army. Prophet Mosese fasted to thank Allah for that miracle.

As Muslims, prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, advised us to do like moses and fast this day, also a day before or a day after.
This day is called "Ashoora" (the tenth of muharram)*

For Muslims, fasting in this month is the best of fasting after Ramadan.
Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, said: "Fasting the day of 'Ashoora' (is of great merits), I hope that Allah will accept it as an expiation for (the sins committed in) the previous year."

You can fast this day alone (July 16th), with a day before (July 15th) or a day after (July 17th), or the three of them.

May Allah accept your good deeds.

*muharram is the first month in the islamic lunar calendar.
