From Hiding in Shame to the Marriage Supper
The Bible features two starkly contrasting scenes: one at the very beginning and one at the very end.
In the beginning scene (Genesis 3), we see Adam and Eve quickly clothing themselves and hiding from God. Despite having a lush garden and an unimpeded relationship with their Creator, sin entered with its heavy weight of guilt and shame. It separated them from God and drove them from His presence. How could the broken bond ever be repaired?
The second scene presents the marriage supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19). This too is a gathering of sinners, but they aren't cowering in shame, hiding in guilt, or dreading God's presence. Instead, they are celebrating because the broken bond has been fully restored! They are clothed in the righteousness of another and accepted because of Him. There is no condemnation and no sin that separates them.
What made the difference between these two scenes? Not human wisdom, strength, or righteousness. The difference is captured in one transformative word: grace. If you're God's child, stop hiding behind the trees of your shame. Because all your sin is covered by the blood of Jesus, you can run toward God and not away from Him. Step out into the light—there is a celebration in your future!
