Mission Statement

The Catholic Cemetery Association of the Archdiocese of Boston is committed to witnessing in faith to the Church's belief in the resurrection of the body, her traditions and practices and the corporal work of mercy which call us to a profound reverence for the bodies which were once temples of the Holy Spirit. It is a significant part of our mission to provide a fitting resting

place for our beloved dead - especially the poor - sacred places of prayer, beauty and peace where those who mourn can find comfort - and to reflect the faith as expressed in the Order of Christian Funerals. The mission of the Catholic Cemetery Association of the Archdiocese of Boston includes the witness of faith in the world as we minister to the needs of those who come to us. It also includes ongoing formation for all cemetery personnel and all the parish communities of the Archdiocese of Boston with regard to the ministry to which we are called and the tenets of the Catholic faith. We work in service to the Archbishop of Boston and to all who are in need of our ministry.

Due to the heavy snowfall we have experienced this winter, our cemeteries are currently closed to visitors, except for families attending active burials.

Our grounds crew is working carefully and diligently to clear the snow so that the grounds can be safely reopened. We understand how important it is to visit loved ones, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make the cemeteries safe for everyone.

Thank you for your kindness and cooperation.

Our Cemetery offices are open; however, we strongly advise you to postpone any visits to our mausoleums or gravesites for the next couple days due to icing on cemetery roads and walkways as well as frigid temperatures.

Our groundskeepers are diligently out working to salt and make our cemetery roads and sidewalks safe for visitors, but this will take time.

If you must leave home today, please be cautious as most of our region is experiencing low temperatures and icy conditions.

Be cautious and safe!

The Catholic Cemetery Association will be hosting students from Bishop Fenwick High School as they participate in a “Wreaths Across America” tribute within the Veterans Section of our St. Mary Cemetery, Salem, MA this Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 12 PM.

We encourage all who are interested in volunteering to join us, rain or shine, for a brief, reflective ceremony followed by the playing of Taps and the laying of wreaths upon a hero’s grave.

For any questions or inquiries, please contact James Brasco at 339-226-1271.
