Bulletin — September 27, 2026 — 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Have you seen the Mary Grotto? Pat Snow has been working on it including putting on a new roof donated by Stan Corp. It sure looks nice.

Our faith formation program began last Sunday, September 20, except for the preschool-to-kindergarten class which will begin on October 11. We have been checking our sacramental records and find that many baptized children are not enrolled in the program. Remember, when you have your child baptized you also promise to bring them up in our faith. Our program begins with Pre-K during the 10:00 Mass which allows parents to attend Mass while their 4-5 year olds learn about God. That class is held in the social hall. The 1-8 grades meet right after the 10:00 o’clock Mass, beginning with reciting a decade of the Rosary in the church before going to their classrooms, and lasts until 12:15. Parents can wait in the social hall or pick up their students after class. The 1st reconciliation/communion class is the 3rd grade but if your child is older than 8 and has not received his/her first communion, he/she is welcome to join the class.

Students are given juice and cookies at the beginning of each class and participate in two children’s Masses during the year. We ask for a donation of $10.00 per student but no child is turned away.

PFD time is always upon us and once again we are asking each family to tithe one check per family. A tithe is 10% of a check so we are asking each family to donate $100 to the church to help with fuel and other expenses this year.

Landon Burke’s funeral will be at 3pm Thursday,October 1 followed by a celebration of his life at the high school cafeteria at about 5. Gary and Joe Pete’s funeral will be Friday, October 2 at 2 p.m., followed by a feast in the social hall. Please remember all three young men and their families in your prayers.

Someone has taken 4 sheets of plywood and 3 or 4 3x12s from our stockpile of lumber. This lumber was to help with repairs to the social hall and was not for the taking. Please return it if you mistakenly took it.

It is almost time for the Friday Night Supper Club to begin. This ministry provides a hot meal each Friday from October-March to anyone who needs it with different churches providing the meal. We need someone to coordinate this program for the Friday we provide the meal. Please contact Susan Murphy if you would like to do so.

During the month of October, Our Blessed Mother will be visiting homes in Bethel. If you would like to arrange a visit, please sign up on the sheet in the lobby and Patty Jones will deliver her to your house and pick her up after the visit. This would be a great way to introduce your family to praying the rosary during October which is the month of the Rosary.

Flu Season is upon us. The hospital reports there have already been cases of A1 Flu in the region. Get your flu shots.

Bulletin – September 13, 2026 – 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The church grounds look so much better with the gravel that was spread over the past week. And the new steps to the faith formation classrooms are a work of art. Thank you Stan.

Our faith formation program will begin next Sunday on September 20 except for the preschool-to-kindergarten class, which will begin on October 11. Once again, we are looking for volunteers who are willing to share our faith with our children. Please contact Patty Jones if you are interested in assisting with this program. All those who work with children must have a background check and participate in safe environment training prior to the beginning of the program. Registration forms are available on the table in the lobby. Please register your child even if he/she has been in the program in previous years. We ask $10.00 a student to help cover the cost of supplies but no child is turned away.

A group of parishioners met last Sunday to discuss ways to raise money. Among the ideas discussed were having a chili cookoff, frybread sales, movie nights with popcorn sales, holding a raffle with donated prizes, a Christmas giving tree with ornaments that depict items the church needs, various types of dinners, and a craft/bake sale during the Advent/Christmas season. We will hold another meeting to discuss these ideas and others more fully on Sunday, October 11, after the ten o'clock Mass. However, the craft/bake sale is a firm fundraiser and we are asking parishioners to donate items that they have made to the sale.

It is almost time for the Friday Night Supper Club to begin. This ministry provides a hot meal each Friday from October-March to anyone who needs it with *different churches providing the meal.* We need someone to coordinate this program for the Friday we provide the meal. Please contact Susan Murphy if you would like to do so.

Welcome to Father Randy who is celebrating with us this weekend while Father Abraham is in Marshall. Father Abraham should be back tomorrow.

The new boiler has been delivered and will be installed soon.

A very big thank you to Stan Corp who has put in over 50 hours shoring up the deck outside the social hall, the Mary Grotto, and the walkways and ramps around the social hall. He is also planning to strengthen the steps leading into the classrooms and to the kitchen door of the social hall. The materials he used
came from those left over from leveling the foundation of the social hall.

The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, August 15, is not a holy day of obligation this year as it falls on a Saturday.

We are still welcoming good quality used and new clothing, blankets and other bedding, and household items to be given away. With school starting soon and people are moving back into Bethel, these items are needed.
