Pastor Kris from Heartland shared a powerful message with the ladies in WERDCC on a truth we all need to hold onto—God is able.

No matter the past, no matter the mistakes, no matter how broken things may feel… God is still able. Able to restore. Able to heal. Able to redeem every story for His glory.

At Broken and Beautiful Prison Ministry, we are reminded daily that His power is not limited by circumstances or chains. He meets each woman right where she is and begins a work that only He can do—transforming hearts, renewing minds, and bringing hope where it once felt impossible.

We are so grateful for this reminder and the truth that nothing is too far gone for God.

Please continue to pray for the women we serve—that they would fully receive this truth and walk boldly in the freedom and purpose God has for them. 💜

God says more than "Not Guilty"; we have a seat at the table! It’s not just about your debt being paid; it’s about your place being prepared in heaven. That is the awesome reality of a righteous God who loves you. A truth that's core of the good news.

We’d love to have you join our family this Sunday at 9:00 AM!

When we follow Jesus, we aren’t just rescued from the dark; we are redeemed to be His own people. Paul makes it clear that we weren't saved just to wait around for Christ’s return. We were redeemed to live with purpose—to do 'good works' by following God’s will, His way. These actions shouldn't feel like a chore; they should flow naturally out of our gratitude for what He has already done for us. Let’s dive into what Paul has to say in Titus 2:14.

Titus 2:14 (ESV) who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Why does the local church matter? Today, we’re looking back at the early church in Jerusalem to see how God wants to move at Heartland Community Church. We aren't just a building; we are a family built by Christ to reach the lost and grow together in the Gospel. Join us live as we study Luke’s account and find our place in God’s mission!

Acts 2:42-47 (ESV) And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

A new year brings a renewed calling. There are real people in our lives — friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family — whom God is inviting us to bring to Him.

2026 is a season of harvest. The fields are ready, and the mission is clear: step out in faith, love people intentionally, and share the hope of Christ. Each of us has a role in what God wants to do this year.

This is the year we go.

Why should we proclaim the Gospel? The question is important because motives mean everything. It’s not just that we love people, if we love people without first loving Christ it's empty. The motive is wrong, and the outcome is not transformed lives. Honestly, it’s probably even worse because it becomes all about us. For the Gospel to shine forth, we must be all about Christ in all we do. Jesus came to serve and to give His life for us. That is the love that compels us to do what we do.

2 Corinthians 4:5-6 (ESV) For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

God is moving among us and leading us forward—and when that happens, we should expect spiritual resistance. That pushback may show up as discouragement, division, temptation, or conflict, but it isn’t something to fear; it’s simply the reality of a spiritual battle. Scripture reminds us we don’t fight people or problems in the flesh, but the enemy of our souls, and we stand firm by using God’s weapons—prayer, His Word, the Holy Spirit, faith, worship, and love.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (ESV) For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,

We become what we honor, love, and pursue. Scripture shows that rebellion began when worship turned inward — when creation chose self instead of God. But freedom comes when we return to worshiping Him alone.

Sometimes victory over sin isn’t found in striving harder, but in surrender — coming before God and asking for His Spirit and His power to change our hearts. There is something powerful about worship, especially when believers gather together and seek Him with expectation.

When we worship Him, not ourselves, God begins to transform our lives from the inside out.

Our thanks to Jermaine and Maria Talton of Nations Family Church in Quincy, Illinois, who spoke at our annual Marriage Renewal evening. They shared some keys to nurturing the marriage relationship, such as "marriage thrives when forgiveness is a lifestyle." Pastor Kris encouraged us to invite God into every season of our lives. And, as usual, dinner by Kelly and Grecia and their crew was fabulous!

As we move forward, let’s remain faithful to the call God has placed on us—to help hurting people, especially those walking through very real spiritual battles. Spiritual warfare is not only emotional or experiential; it is also deeply spiritual and intellectual. The subject of the demonic is often dismissed, ignored, or exaggerated, but rarely understood. My prayer is that today the Scriptures would teach us, shape us, and equip us to see it clearly and respond with truth and grace.

Colossians 2:13-15 And you being dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your
flesh, He made you alive with Him, having graciously forgiven us all our transgressions. 14 Having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us which was hostile to us, He also has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them in Him.
