Love Like Jesus! Jesus continues preparing the disciples for what is soon about to happen. This is his last chance for instructions, last chance to give them hope, and maybe most importantly, his last chance to tell them how much he loved them. Judas (not Iscariot) asked Jesus why he was making things plain to them, but not to the world. Jesus’ response was, “Because a loveless world is a sightless world. If anyone loves me, he will carefully keep my word and my Father will love him.”

Today’s Scripture reading was John 14:15-29 split into two readings.

Come worship with us next Sunday at 10:30am. Everyone is welcome!

It’s Mother’s Day so let’s get started with some Mom jokes! These were funny! But on a more serious note, Katie shared about perhaps one of the most famous mothers - Mary. Yeah, that Mary, Jesus’ mom! Check out our Children’s Time video for today.

What troubles you, upsets you, worries you? What do you let fester and grow in your head that eventually just really ticks you off? In our gospel reading today from John, Jesus addresses these issues and helps the disciples to realize how these trials and tribulations are just temporary because there’s a special place for each one of them (and us) connecting us to the Father and true happiness.

Today’s Scripture lessons were 1 Peter 2:21-25 and John 14:1-14.

May God bless you real good this week!

If you’re happy and you know it…how do you let it show? We all know the song, right? But what if you’re a bird? Or a dog? We’ve all got ways of expressing happiness. In Matthew’s gospel, Jesus teaches what brings about true happiness. Check out Katie’s Children’s message for today!

Today is the fourth Sunday of Eastertide - often referred to as “Good Shepherd” Sunday. Our gospel reading began where we left off a few weeks ago when we focused on the healing of the man born blind. John’s story continues with Jesus explaining the difference between those that can really see that he is the Messiah and those that claim to see, but are too distracted by other things to be able to recognize what is right in front of them. Jesus taught a great deal about sheep, but the main point of the lessons were more about the Shepherd than the sheep.

Our Scripture lessons today were Psalm 23 and John 10:1-10 with a nice chunk of John 9 to lead into our main focus. Check them out for yourself and take the words to heart.

Come worship with us next week at 10:30 am. We’ll save you a seat! Everybody’s welcome!

Wisdom or just knowledge? We can read book after book after book, a whole stack even, and gain a whole lot of knowledge. But a whole lot of knowledge won’t make you wise unless you use it. Katie shared the story from Matthew 7 this morning about the wise man who built his house on a solid foundation and the foolish man that built his house on the sand. When the storms come, as they surely will, will your house - your very being - stand strong because you put God’s word into practice? Or do you just have head knowledge about what the Bible says? Check out our video for today’s Children’s Time!

Sometimes things don’t go the way we’d hoped they would, but we later come to realize that what we’d hoped for is right there in front of us. We just can’t see it yet. That’s what happened in our lesson today from Luke 24:13-35. Two followers of Jesus were on their way back home to Emmaus distraught and disappointed that the Messiah had been crucified and was going to rise on the 3rd day. Well, it was the 3rd day and Jesus was nowhere to be found. Or so they thought. Check out our video for today for the rest of the details and the lessons we can grow from in our own lives.

Our Children’s Time message began this morning with Katie and our little lady concentrating on a seek and find page looking for hidden objects. Sometimes those things can be a real challenge! The object is right there in front of you, but you’ve got to look real hard to find it. That was a great beginning to today’s lesson as Katie shared the story about the two followers of Jesus on their way back home to Emmaus on Resurrection Day from Luke 24. Jesus was walking alongside of the two, even talking with them, but the didn’t recognize him. It was only when he broke bread and gave it to them that they finally realized who was right in front of them. They were looking for Jesus, but other things got in the way, and they didn’t realize he was right there the whole time. Keep looking for Jesus because he’s walking right there beside you every day!

“You believe because you’ve seen it with your own eyes, but blessed are those who believe without seeing”. Our old friend Thomas always gets a bum rap just because he was late to dinner and was skeptical about what the other disciples told him. Maybe he was from Missouri and they were going to have to show him. And that’s exactly what happened. Jesus returned to that locked room where the disciples were hanging out just for Thomas. John’s gospel emphasizes that when Jesus appeared to the disciples, he gave them the Holy Spirit and sent them out into the world to share the Good News. Chapter 20 comes to a close telling us the purpose behind the stories - that we might believe that Jesus is the Messiah and in him we have life eternal.

Today’s Scripture lessons were 1 Peter 1:3-9 and John 20:19-29. Spend some time reading these two passages and let the words really sink in. Living hope, eternal life, the salvation of your souls - all because of what Jesus has done for us!

Come worship with us next Sunday! We’ll save you a seat! Everybody is welcome!

You have got to check out our video for this morning’s Children’s message! Katie gave us a powerful demonstration on terminal velocity, but also taught us a lesson about our friend Thomas. You know, Doubting Thomas. Yeah, that one! Even when we watched her experiment with our own eyes, some of us still didn’t catch on. Thomas wouldn’t believe that Jesus had risen from the grave and appeared to the disciples in the flesh until he saw Jesus for himself. Take a few minutes and watch Katie in action for the whole story!

We were blessed to have 3 young ones with us for the Easter children’s sermon! What’s everyone’s favorite Easter candy? Jellybeans,
of course! Katie showed the kiddos how each color can be used to represent a part of the Holy Week events. Green is for the Garden of Gethsemane, orange is for Judas’ betrayal, purple is for Jesus’ royalty, red is for the blood Jesus shed for us, black (who likes black jellybeans 🤪) is for our sins, white is for the purification of sins, yellow for the resurrection, and pink is for hope. It was fun to see a sweet treat turned into something meaningful!
