THE โLETTUCEโ (Let Us) PASSAGES
Let us not be like others, who are asleep, but Let us be awake and sober. Let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.
Let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. Since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, Let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Since the promise of entering his rest still stands, Let us be careful that none be found to have fallen short of it. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity. Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
Since we live by the Spirit, Let us keep in step with the Spirit. Since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, Let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.
Through Jesus, therefore, Let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.
Let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. Let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, Let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.
