Gospel of the Day (John 3,13-17)

Jesus said to Nicodemus : "No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man.
And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.

Saint Notburga of Rattenberg

Feast Day: September 14
Patronage: servants, peasants, farmers
Saint Notburga was the daughter of German peasants. She was a kitchen maid of Count Henry of Rattenberg and saved the leftovers for the poor. Once asked if she could forgo attending Mass and work more, she said, ”Let my sickle be the judge between me and you.” The sickle remained suspended in the air. She is remembered for her hard work, charity and prayerfulness. Many miracles are attributed to her intercession.

⭐️Alumni Spotlight⭐️

Congratulations to Colleen Adkins Hood, MBS class of 2009, and Emily Knopp, MBS class of 2011!

We are proud to recognize Colleen Hood as the 2026 Teacher of the Year for Snow Hill Elementary School, where she teaches Kindergarten. Colleen holds a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and is pursuing graduate studies in educational leadership. Colleen has taught Pre-K 4 and Kindergarten students at SHES for seven years. Beyond her classroom, Colleen serves as a member on the Faculty Council, Title I Advisory Committee. She is a Restorative Practices Champion and an Apple Distinguished Teacher along with serving on many school initiatives.

We are also proud to recognize Emily Knopp as the 2026 Teacher of the Year for Stephen Decatur Middle School, where she has taught eighth-grade English Language Arts for six years. Emily holds an undergraduate degree from Salisbury University and a master's degree in Technology in Education from Wilmington University. She is an active member of the School Improvement Plan, After School Academy, mentor to high school interns, and an NJHS officer. She believes that creating a supportive classroom environment is essential to helping students grow as confident readers.
