Let me tell you a true story with several parts:
A camper comes to the altar to pray with one of our staffers. Our staffer ( always with Bible in hand) asks her if there is something specific she would like to pray about.
The camper says "I hope you can help me. I have tried a few different ways to end my life. None of them have worked so far. Do you have any ideas of what I could try next? I really need to do it." Camper age: NINE years old.
A camper comes to one of our staffers after the altar call is over and camp had ended for the day. She is a Buddhist young lady. ( yes, at a Christian camp but that's another God-incidence story). She says that she has heard and understands about Jesus and what He did for her and wants to trust Him as her Savior and become a Christian. Camper age: 16
After a camp service about following the Lord in Christian dating, a girl runs to get her phone from her coach because she needs to break up with her boyfriend back home.
Camper age: 17
After a competition devotion, a parent comes to a staffer and tells her that the devotion about God's plan and purpose in our life had encouraged and helped her daughter come a long ways from depression about the death of a family member. Camper age: middle school
At the end of a camp service, a coach and her estranged husband who had come just to see their daughter perform prayed at the altar together and committed to keep their marriage together.
As I type those stories in tears and remember being present and the location and people (not names always, but people in my mind's eye), let me follow up on several.
We prayed with the 9 year old and encouraged her about how greatly she was loved by the God of the universe and how fearfully and wonderfully God made her. And as we do with all situations involving physical harm or any kind of abuse that we have any knowledge of, we told the school authorities to be sure of knowledge and follow up help. She is still going to the school but is in middle school now and doing well. EVERY PRAISE IS TO OUR GOD!
The buddhist young lady told us that she could not tell her parents of her decision to follow Christ. She said they would kick her out of their home. And they would require her to go to her room to pray to "their god" 3 times a day for 30 minutes each. She said she would comply with that but instead she would now pray to THE LIVING GOD! She got it! She really got it! She did tell her two older brothers about her decision and they both trusted Jesus also and are successful doctors in TN right now. We don't know of the parents spiritual situation but they did not disown their kids for their decisions! EVERY PRAISE IS TO OUR GOD!
We don't know how the camper who called her boyfriend to break up with him worked out but we do know she wrote in the inside of her Bible what we had said in devos.. GOD SENDS THE BEST TO THOSE WHO LEAVE THE CHOICE WITH HIM!
We also know that the marriage was restored and the depressed young lady came back to our events until she graduated.
EVERY PRAISE IS TO OUR GOD!
So why would a Cheerleading organization and Event Producer that teaches state of the art cheer skills and conducts professional competition events giving paid bids and EOS opportunities and invites to perform in Macy Parade make such a post ?
That's simple. Because for 40 years ( in 2027) we have been "Building People Before Pyramids." We have kept our first name as the driving force of this sports ministry ... CHRISTIAN Cheerleaders of America.
We also wanted to bless you with some of the wonderful things God has done over the years! Maybe you identify with one of them and the stories will encourage you in your walk with the Lord.
Another reason is to thank those of you who have helped us in this journey all these years with prayers, presence and financial support.
It's not about me,
it's all about HIM!
It's not about us
It's all about them!
Great Cheerleading competitions and camps draw teams to our events and keeps them coming back . We don't compromise on quality cheerleading . But every single event of our non- profit sports ministry includes a gospel presentation .
