🏆🥄 We have a NEW Chili Cook-Off Champion! 🌶️

Congratulations to John Meadows, who took home the coveted Golden Spoon Award at today’s Pleasant Hill UMC Chili & Soup Cook-Off! Our reigning champion, Youth Pastor Jacob Huffstutler, graciously passed the Golden Spoon to its new owner!

A special thank you to Megan Douglas for helping make today’s event such a success, and to all our wonderful cooks and volunteers who shared their time and talents!

We have some AMAZING culinary talent at Pleasant Hill UMC! What a wonderful afternoon of delicious food, laughter, and fellowship. ❤️

❤️ October is Pastor Appreciation Month!

Today and every day, we give thanks for two extraordinary people who mean so much to our Pleasant Hill UMC family! Reverend Dr. Joe DeWitte (UMC Elder, but Pastor Joe to us!) and Pastor Monica Harbarger (UMC Deacon and LPC, but Monica to us!) are part of the glue that holds our congregation together.

Both are gifted preachers, compassionate pastors, faithful servants, and all around wonderful people. Their wisdom, love, humor, encouragement, and steady leadership make Pleasant Hill a better place. We truly don’t know where we would be without their ministry!

We are grateful not just for what they do, but for who they are. They walk alongside us through life’s joys and challenges, remind us of God’s grace, and help us grow together.

🌶️ DON’T FORGET! Tomorrow after church is Pleasant Hill’s Annual Chili & Soup Cook-Off!

It’s time for some friendly competition, delicious food, and great fellowship!

Join us from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM for our annual Chili & Soup Cook-Off! We need some wonderful cooks to bring their favorite chili or soup in a crockpot. Whether you’re entering to win or just coming to enjoy, everyone is welcome!

Not a cook? We could still use donations of oyster crackers and shredded cheese. Saltines, sour cream, and desserts are already covered!

We’re also looking for a few helping hands with setup and cleanup.

❤️ Let us know if you can bring something or volunteer to help!

We can’t wait to share a delicious meal and some friendly competition with our Pleasant Hill family! 🌶️🏆

🚨 EVENT CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER 🚨

We regret to announce that the Feed My Starving Children 5K & 10K, hosted by Pleasant Hill UMC, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, has been canceled.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding! We will honor 2026 registrations next year for the 2027 race.

Thank you to everyone who planned to participate, volunteer, or support this event. Your generosity and commitment to helping feed children in need are deeply appreciated! ❤️

👟📋 There is still time to sign up! Pleasant Hill UMC is excited to present the Feed My Starving Children 5K/10K at Red Mountain Park in Birmingham, AL on Saturday, October 10, 2026!

Whether you choose the 5K ($35) or 10K ($45), your participation helps support an important mission: providing nutritious meals to children in need around the world! 🌎

Onsite Registration & Packet Pickup: 7:00–7:45 AM
Race Start: 8:00 AM
Cutoff Time: 11:00 AM
Awards: Top 3 Male/Female Overall

For the past 12 years, Pleasant Hill has organized Feed My Starving Children mobile packing events, preparing more than 1 million meals and helping provide food for over 2,700 children.

Proceeds from this race will support our upcoming Feed My Starving Children mobile pack in January at Pleasant Hill UMC in Bessemer

Come run, give back, and be part of something bigger. Just two hours of volunteering can help feed a child for an entire year!!

🎃 Save the date! Join us Sunday, October 25 from 5:00–7:00 PM for an evening of fall fun at Pleasant Hill UMC!

Bring the kids, wear your favorite costumes, and enjoy a fun and safe night of Trunk or Treating with our church family and community.

🍭 We need your help! We are looking for:
🚗 Volunteers to decorate a trunk and hand out treats
🍬 Donations of individually wrapped candy

This event is open to the entire community! All are welcome! Invite your friends, neighbors, and family and come join the fun.
