Let’s eat, play, laugh, and enjoy being together! Join us for Picnic & Play at the Pleasant Hill Pavilion on Sunday, September 20, at 4:00 PM.

Bring a dish to share, a lawn chair, and your healthy competitive spirit for field games, a potluck meal, fellowship, and good old-fashioned fun!

Now, let’s all pray for a cold front—and no rain! 🙏☀️

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24

We give thanks to God for Pleasant Hill’s wonderful Flower Girls, who faithfully tend the flowers and gardens across our church campus with loving hands and generous hearts.

Their ministry is a beautiful act of Christian stewardship and Creation care, helping our church grounds reflect the beauty, welcome, and abundance of God’s good creation.

Thank you, Flower Girls, for your green thumbs, servant hearts, and plenty of flower power! 🌷🌿

Join us beginning Tuesday, September 15, for Unsettled Faith: A Study in the Early Church as we explore how the earliest Christians held onto faith before the canon was closed and the creeds were written.

Long before a fixed New Testament, believers had to discern truth amid competing voices, confusion, and uncertainty. Their story still has something to say to ours.

Begins September 15
Tuesdays at 10:00 AM
Pastor Joe’s Office at Pleasant Hill UMC

All are welcome — no background in church history required!

Suggested reading (optional): Readings in the History of Christian Theology, Volume I by William C. Placher.

Come curious. Come with questions. Come see how the early church remained faithful when so much was still unsettled.

Pleasant Hill’s Open Circle Class is a pillar of our church and one of the most welcoming groups you will meet! ❤️

Open to singles and couples, this class combines Biblically based studies with lots of laughter, friendship, and service. Even standing on a chair, we still couldn’t fit everyone in the photo!

Open Circle helped launch our backpack food ministry and continues to make a huge impact through our school community partnerships.

Come once, and you’ll probably leave with a new friend and a reason to come back. There’s always room in the circle!

🎄 It’s Chrismon time at Pleasant Hill! 🎄

We are *sew* thankful for Sew Much Love and for our incredible Pleasant Hill Worship Team, who dedicate so much time and care to making our worship spaces beautiful, welcoming, and meaningful. These talented people work tirelessly behind the scenes to bring beauty and splendor to our services, and we cannot wait to see the new additions they are creating for our beloved collection of Chrismon ornaments!

But what exactly is a Chrismon?

The word Chrismon comes from “Christ” + “monogram.” The tradition began in 1957 when Frances Kipps Spencer and the women of Ascension Lutheran Church in Danville, Virginia, began decorating a Christmas tree with handmade Christian symbols instead of traditional Christmas ornaments. The idea soon spread to churches of many denominations, including United Methodist congregations.

Traditionally made in white and gold, Chrismons use ancient Christian symbols, crosses, stars, crowns, fish, doves, the Alpha and Omega, and many others, to tell the story of Jesus Christ. White represents Christ’s purity and perfection, while gold points to his glory and majesty. These symbols have deep roots in Christian history and have long helped Christians communicate and remember the story of our faith.

So when we decorate our Chrismon tree, we aren’t simply decorating for Christmas. We are filling our sanctuary with symbols that proclaim who Christ is and tell the story of our faith.

And this beautiful tradition takes many hands! ❤️

If you sew, stitch, bead, craft, or would simply like to learn, we would love to have you join us as we continue creating ornaments for Pleasant Hill’s Chrismon collection.

We need more crafters, and there is a place for you! 🪡✨

At Pleasant Hill, we believe you belong before you ever become a member. Today, we’re especially excited to welcome Evan Hyde, Andrea Hyde, Victoria Hyde, Maxwell Hyde, and Carol Lynch as they take this next step and officially join our church family. This family has known Pleasant Hill for many years, and we are thrilled to welcome them into membership today. We’re also celebrating Maxwell’s baptism! 🙌

We can’t wait to grow together in faith, serve our community, and see all God has in store!

As a new school year begins, we’re celebrating our wonderful PDO program, lovingly led by longtime church member Joy Arnett. Joy manages this special ministry with such care, creating a nurturing place for our precious little ones.

We are so grateful to the parents and guardians who trust us with their children.

“Let the little children come to me… for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14

Praying for a joyful year of learning, laughter, and growth for our PDO children, families, and staff! ❤️
