First Wesleyan - Bessemer City, NC A First Wesleyan Church located in Bessemer City, NC First Wesleyan Church in Bessemer City was established over 100 years ago (1906)!

We hail from various professions and backgrounds, seeking to let the presence of Christ in us make a positive, lasting difference in the communities of Gaston County. To that end, we are actively involved in community outreach to empower the hurting people around us. These ministry endeavors include: Christmas toy bike run, Operation Christmas Child, Weekend backpack program, Hope4Gaston, B.C. Boy

s and Girls Club, Hope House, The Crisis Pregnancy Center, Fall Festival, Down Home Day, and Christmas in the City. In addition to local outreach, we’ve sent sixty persons on ministry and/or construction teams to Jamaica, Antigua, and Honduras in just the last three years. Plans are in the works to travel to Cuba this fall to help with construction of a ministry center there! First Wesleyan Church is comprised of educators, nurses, law enforcement, firefighters, small business owners, contractors, and retirees. We have five generations of worshipers, who can choose worshiping in a traditional service or in a modern worship experience. Volunteerism is strong at First Wesleyan Church with opportunities to serve within one’s giftedness! We believe in redemption; that God in Christ can set us free from our sins, heal and transform our lives, into the new community Jesus established by His death, burial, and resurrection. The expression of that redemption is lived out by tangibly serving others with the love of Christ. If you are into relationships and not religion, there is a place for you at First Wesleyan Church. Here you will be welcomed and genuinely embraced; with the opportunities to find and develop meaningful friendships and to grow in your faith while serving the Lord. The church property is on Alabama Avenue in Bessemer City, but First Wesleyan Church is found wherever our people reside in Cleveland and Gaston County! A huge thank you to the students from First Wesleyan Bessemer City for serving with such dedication and joy! ❤️

This incredible group helped beautify our campus, faithfully working even through an unexpected rain shower. Their hard work and servant hearts made a lasting impact on our ministry and the people we serve.

We are also grateful for Pastor Greg of Vital Connection, whose leadership, coordination, and equipment made this day of service possible.

Thank you for being the hands and feet of Christ and for helping make Hope & Love a more welcoming place for all.

We can’t wait to tell you all about this years LoveBC project. It was an incredible experience for all involved. Our young people spent the entire week serving as the hands and feet of Jesus throughout our community and the surrounding areas. Thank you all for your prayers, encouragement, and support!
