A Close to Home Learning Opportunity - Peace Christian Church at Mahomet would like to invite interested community members to attend two free practical training sessions the next two Sunday afernoons, led by one of your neighbors.

Cumulative Stress Training
Are you feeling stressed? Want to learn some new skills to help lower your stress level? Come to a free, local workshop – led by Ron Mottern on Sunday September 22th 4PM to 5:30PM.

Compassion Fatigue Training
Do you feel tired from giving all you have to help your family, friends, coworkers, or others? Do you sometimes feel utterly weary and like you just can’t give any more? Do you need to learn how to better take care of yourself? Come to this free workshop to learn more about ways to renew your kindness, energy, and ability to help others while taking care of yourself. – led by Ron Mottern on Sunday September 29th 4PM to 5:30PM.

A lot has happened since you were last at the church in Mahomet!

o The church burned down.
o We have since re-purposed the Tabernacle into our "new" church building that is acoustically just right for a singing.

In the old days, the nearby churches would join us for our "Singings." Perhaps you would like to join us for a Singing in our "new" facility. We hope to sing the First Thursday evening each month starting in September.

Tommy Jones, the talented music teacher for the Killeen Public Schools will lead the singing.

So, join us for a casual evening of singing on September 5th from 6:30PM to 7:30PM with snacks.

Bring your friends and let's lift our spirits. With all going on in the world, perhaps a little spirit lifting is in order. (-:

The Mahomet Church Building Destroyed By Fire

Mahomet Christian Church, a congregation with a history stretching back to 1851, burned down on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. https://www.dailytrib.com/2020/12/10/fire-destroys-burnet-county-church/ It was likely the result of arson.

The Church would like to express its appreciation for the concern shown by both individuals and other congregations far and wide. For the people that would like to help:

· Pray. Pray for Mahomet Christian Church, Burnet County, and the Country. Rev. Dr. John Davenport, pastor for both Mahomet Christian Church and First Christian Church, Bertram, has raised the concern of increased social unrest and believes the church must be an active agent for peacemaking in our world.

· Give. If you feel called to contribute finances to the rebuilding effort, donations can be sent to Mahomet Christian Church, PO Box 464, Bertram, TX 78605. You can also donate online through GoFundMe at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/rebuild-the-mohomet-christian-church

· Dream. If you have ideas on what is needed in the Mahomet Community, let us know via email: [email protected] – we will let you know when we schedule planning meetings.

· Help. At some point after the sheriff releases the “crime scene,” we will take down the remainder of the burned building. If you would like to help, let us know by email or just watch this website for an announcement.

· Worship. In the meantime we will continue to hold internet church services at 9AM each Sunday. Watch this website for details.
