The Bible study at 7:00 PM opens a new venture for the Israelites. They have a king, and that king is tasked with rescuing the people in Jabesh Gilead. This is a first for them. They had demanded a king, and God consented. Now, they are under a whole new form of government. God is going to use this incident to remind them that He remains sovereign and the only one who can assure them of victory.

I mentioned on Sunday that the signup genius is open, and we need people to donate toward the food for Vacation Bible School. The link is below, so sign up quickly. We will need to know soon how much is being donated and how much we will need to acquire.

In I Peter 5:7, believers are to "cast all your care (anxiety) on Him (God)." Does that mean I can just turn it over to God and go on with life with no further responsibilities? Surely not. I must fulfill my duties. Still, the verse must mean something and something significant. On Sunday, we will tackle I Peter 5:6-7 and try to fill in some answers to these questions. Lord willing, you will have a better understanding after working through the details of the verses.

The midweek service was on Tuesday night. We will not have a Bible study on Wednesday this week. The graduations have gone great! On Sunday, we had the high school graduation; Tuesday morning, a fantastic preschool graduation; and Tuesday night, an excellent K-5 graduation. The staff at our Academy does a great job and works together to represent the Lord and our ministry well. Thank you!

We have a lot going on in the next week. Last night, we had a great piano and trumpet recital by our music students. Tonight, we have the final Patch and Royalty Clubs for this school year. Over the weekend, we have several things connected to the end of the Academy school year. Here are a few updates as reminders.
Wednesday
We will meet in the sanctuary. The floor is a little sticky, so be cautious.
6:30 PM - Ladies Choir Practice - this is for all the ladies in the choir and other ladies who would like to be part of a singing group. We welcome new people who are musically inclined.
7:00 PM - Patch and Royalty Clubs will meet in the auditorium for some awards, then be dismissed to their club meetings. We will have the Bible study for the adults, then ice cream in the Activity Building.

Sunday

Sunday Notes:
1. We will meet in the Activity Building on Sunday. You can enter the main building and walk through or enter by the ramp and go down the stairs. Please be alert to visitors or new attendees who may need some direction.
2. This is Mother's Day, so the message is fitting for the day. It is from Proverbs 22:15. I will be interested to see if it helps some of our moms orient their thinking. Solomon, the man of wisdom, offers several guidelines for parents. We will look at this one on Mother's Day and another on Father's Day.
3. Schedule change! We will not have the 9:00 AM prayer time. It will be easier to cancel it than to move people all over the building. Lord willing, it will resume next week. I really appreciate the good group that faithfully attends.
4. PeeWee Patch is singing in the morning service. Make sure you are here early so you can get ready.

The church sanctuary is coming along nicely. The next step is to throw some paint on the walls. Maybe not "throw," but that is the next project, and we need a few helpers. If you are a practiced painter (that is a nice way of saying we need you to have some skill), we have the paint, brushes, rollers, and walls. We just need you. If you can paint for any amount of time either Friday night or Saturday, let us know. A couple of people will be here Saturday morning around 8 or 8:30 AM. If you can come Saturday morning, you will have some company. Otherwise, we will show you what needs to be done, and you can invest whatever time you have to help with the project. The immediate need is to get started trimming before we start with the rollers.
