What would we accomplish if 589 people donated to the Accord Kids for a scholarship? For years, I've carried a twofold burden. First, I want to reduce the financial burden on parents who understand the need for a Biblically based education. It would be wonderful to have real help. Second, Christian education teachers earn about one-third of what they could make in the public sector. If we had 589 people and reached our goal of a one-million-dollar scholarship, we could increase salaries. Still, if you do some simple math, you will conclude that it only raises the salaries to about two-thirds of what they could be making. Fifteen teachers making $50,000 is $750,000. Our staff is larger than that, and that number includes only salaries, not the other costs we need to cover.
I've carried this burden for years. Long ago, we started a small endowment fund and have benefited from it. It provides less than $2,000 a year, but we are grateful. This, however, would allow us to make significant changes. I am one of the people who does not directly benefit from this. I do not take a salary from the Academy. My burden is knowing that we (parents and the ministry as a whole) should figure out a way to pay our teaching staff better. This is a simple way to help! We are moving money you would otherwise give to the federal government to a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) and designating it for Keystone Christian Academy. The Accord Kids' staff will be here to explain the details.
So, sign up! You can make a big difference in the lives of a sacrificial group.
