Over 1.6 billion people will never hear the gospel unless someone goes and tells them. Our frontier missions agency seeks to establish church-planting movements among unreached people groups. We do this by recruiting, training and sending missionaries to people groups who have less than one percent of Adventist Christians. Driven by faith and in partnership with people like you, our missionaries l

earn the language and culture and begin raising up a body of believers, committed to spreading the gospel among their people. This evangelism model not only empowers local believers, it enables the Adventist Church to grow and expand in areas previously unentered. Many of the areas where AFM works are off limits to the Church for social, political, or ethnic reasons. Our unique cross-cultural evangelization approach to unreached people groups breaks down these barriers and allows for exponential growth. AFM is an Adventist lay ministry and is supported solely by donations. Adventist Frontier Missions, Inc. is an independent ministry that supports the mission of the Seventh-day AdventistⓇ Church; however, it is not part of, affiliated with, or supported by the General Conference of Seventh-day AdventistsⓇ, or any affiliates known as the Seventh-day AdventistⓇ Church. Thus, any content or opinions expressed, implied or included in or with the services offered by Adventist Frontier Missions, Inc. are solely those of Adventist Frontier Missions, Inc. and not those of the Seventh-day AdventistⓇ Church.

Sometimes the mission doesn't look like preaching. It looks like friendship.

Bridget Suzanne, a young woman from South Africa, and Sia from Cambodia came from different worlds — but something deeper than culture connected them. Bible study, Sabbath closings, real conversations. That's how the gospel moves: through relationships built over time.

The door to someone's heart often opens through friendship first.

AFM is a ministry with a clear mission: "Establish indigenous Seventh-day Adventist
church-planting movements among unreached people groups."

That's why we have clear criteria when establishing a new project:

1. Located within the 10/40 window - The proposed project must be within the 10/40 Window: the band between 10° and 40° north latitude, covering North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Projects outside this region may still be considered if they meet the other criteria.

2. Limited or no access to the gospel - There must be limited or no access to the gospel among this people group, including the absence of a Christian community with the capacity to reach its own people effectively.

3. Gospel access restricted by social or political barriers - Is access to the gospel restricted due to social, political, or geographic conditions? Regions facing structural barriers that hinder the spread of the message are prioritized.

4. Less than 2% Evangelical Christian - The proposed people group is less than two percent Evangelical Christian, or the indigenous church lacks the capacity to evangelize their own people effectively.

5. Limited Seventh-day Adventist presence - We evaluate whether there is a limited SDA presence among the people group. AFM seeks to work where the Church has not yet established enough roots to grow autonomously.

6. Barriers that favor an outside evangelist - Sometimes, because of high racial or tribal tensions, an outsider is more effective at spreading the gospel than a believer from a neighboring ethnic group. This context is also taken into account.

Why do we focus on the unreached?
Unreached people groups don't have the same opportunity to hear the gospel as those living in countries with a strong Christian presence and multiple Christian resources. That's exactly why AFM exists: our mission is to reach the unreached in this generation.

If these people groups are on your heart, maybe that's not a coincidence. AFM sends missionaries to places where Christ is least known. Could that be you? Comment below. 👇

In a country where following Jesus can come at a great cost, an AFM missionary shares a story using a hidden identity for the protection of those involved.

Ali recounts her friendship with a Muslim woman named Amina and the unexpected conversation that changed everything.

What began as a simple friendship slowly revealed something deeper:
God was already working long before the missionary arrived.

This is a powerful story about faith, friendship, and the quiet ways Jesus reaches hearts in places few believers can openly go.

Deep in the mountains in the heart of Central Asia, an AFM missionary family seeks to share the gospel with the unreached people of this predominantly Hindu and Buddhist region. It’s a tall task, but what the Castillo family discovered was that God has already been working on hearts through the influence of the Holy Spirit.

“Finally,” I said. “I want you to tell me why there are weeks.”

Well, after some valiant attempts at manipulating the bucket, bottle and washbasin, representing the earth, moon and sun, my Muslim friends admitted they didn’t know why, though I could tell they really wanted to, now.
