No one would choose grief. If given the option, we would rather have one more conversation, one more hug, one more laugh, one more ordinary day with the person we love. Yet grief is precious because it reveals the depth of love.

The pain you feel today is the evidence of a relationship that mattered. It is the heart's testimony that someone was deeply cherished. In Scripture, even Jesus wept at the tomb of His friend. He knew resurrection was coming, yet He still entered the sorrow of loss. God does not rush us through grief. He meets us in it.

Grief is also precious because it reminds us that this world is not our final home. Every tear points us toward the day when God will make all things new, when death will be swallowed up by life, and when those who belong to Christ will be reunited forever.

If you are grieving today, don't despise the tears. Don't feel pressured to move on too quickly. The ache you carry is a reflection of love, and love is one of God's greatest gifts.

One day the pain will lessen, but the love will remain. And in the middle of the sorrow, God is near.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." — Psalm 34:18

We are thinking and praying for all who have lost loved ones in our area and connected communities this week. May the Lord bring you comfort and joy in the midst of troubled times.
