Pray for Israel

Psalm 137.1-6
"By the rivers of Babylon (where Israelites were held captive),
There we sat down, yea, we wept
When we remembered Zion.
2 We hung our harps
Upon the willows in the midst of it.
3 For there those who carried us away captive asked of us a song,
And those who plundered us requested mirth,
Saying, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”

4 How shall we sing the Lord’s song
In a foreign land?
5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
Let my right hand forget its skill!

Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth—

Where is the Lord Jesus in Heaven?

Seated at the right hand of God, the Father

Why is He seated?

Because He has finished all the work required to redeem His creation!

"But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified."

129 “Many a time they have afflicted me from my youth,”
Let Israel now say—

Yet they have not prevailed against me.
3 The plowers plowed on my back;
They made their furrows long.”
4 The Lord is righteous;
He has cut in pieces the cords of the wicked.

5 Let all those who hate Zion
Be put to shame and turned back.

Pastor Cary Schmidt talked about the story of Ulysses. They were about to enter into the rocky cliffs of the sirens who would seduce sailors into destruction and death. Ulysses instructed the other seamen to bind him to the mast of his ship So that he could hear the siren song. He then instructed his crew to put wax in their ears and not to untie him no matter what.
When he heard the sirens he went crazy and tried his best to get loose. He yelled at his crew to let him go. Once they had passed they untied him and Ulysses was grateful that he had not been loosened. Pastor Cary compared that to our being tied to God and his promises in His word.

This is the way to break patterns during cataclysms or discouragement or depression. Regardless of what else is going on; to be tied to the promises of God, To keep our eyes on the landmarks that he has laid in our lives. Not to be seduced into discouragement, depression or destruction. But to bind ourselves to His precious presence and promises found in His Word.
