Young Adults at Netivot Shalom

Young Adults at Netivot Shalom We are part of Congregation Netivot Shalom in Berkeley, CA - a Conservative/Masorti community defined by Belonging, Learning, Ritual, and Justice.

Our events cater to the needs of community members in their 20's and 30's but events are open to everyone! Our community is defined by the values of:

Belonging – we believe, as a participatory egalitarian community, that every member has a voice. Learning – we provide introductory and continuing encounters with Jewish wisdom. Ritual – we strive to deepen personal engagement with the sacred. Justi

ce – we embrace Judaism’s call to perfect the world. Netivot Shalom began in 1989 and grew out of our founding members’ collective commitment to creating an egalitarian spiritual home for Conservative/Masorti Jews in Berkeley, California. We are members who are Jewish and not, Jews-by-choice, interfaith families, multiracial, multicultural, married, single, families and individuals, LGBTQQ, straight, old, and young. We explicitly recognize and cherish each other as teachers and students.

Tonight is Tu B'Av, chag haahava, the holiday of love! We are very lucky to have Naomi Seidman joining us this Shabbat for an after-kiddush talk!

"Tu B'Av, the Jewish Day of Love"
August 13, 1pm in the Sanctuary and on Zoom (contact us for the link)
The 15th Day of Av served as a matchmaking day for unmarried women in the Second Temple period and then went almost unnoticed in the Jewish calendar for many centuries. How and why did this Day of Love get revived in interwar Poland? Naomi will share this fascinating history, and, if we're lucky, she might provide free relationship advice in Yiddish.

Rosh HaShanah starts on Monday evening, and you still have time to sign up for non-member access to Zoom services! Do it ASAP!

This year we are asking for donations starting at $18 to help defray synagogue costs, and you get access to all the Zoom events that CNS is holding - everything from classic CNS services to the beautiful Sephardic Kol Nidre to Torah study etc!

Members already have access to in person and Zoom services, so let us know if you're interested in joining this beautiful, intentional, intergenerational community. We're happy to work through the details!
