The University Catholic Conferences of California, or UCCC, is a state-wide, student run conference for Catholic university students to grow in fellowship and spirituality. UCCC became a project under the office of ASUC Senator Rosemary Hua at UC Berkeley. During the 2012-2013 academic year, Rosemary Hua held a seat in the 20-person legislative branch of the UC Berkeley student government. A confe
rence for Catholic university students was one of her 3-part campaign platforms during the Spring ASUC Elections of 2012. UCCC 2013 (then named "Universities of California Catholic Conference") was held during President's Day weekend (February 15-18, 2013) under the leadership of Rosemary Hua, Mosa Tsay, Crystal Wang, and Kyle Shackleford at UC Berkeley. Michael Dodds, OP, Jackie Francois, and Paul J. The theme for UCCC 2013 was "UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSAL, UNITY". Paul's letter to the Ephesians reminds us that we are “one body and one Spirit" --
"There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all." [Ephesians 4:3-6]
UCCC 2014 was once again held at UC Berkeley, between Jan 17-20th, 2014, and attracted over 250 students, campus ministers, and religious. Theme: FIAT LUX (Let There be Light!) Featured speakers included Bishop Barber of Oakland Diocese, Matt Weber, Mark Hart, Emily Wilson, and Paul J. Since then, the conference has been held at UCSD (2015, Cloud of Witnesses) and UC Davis (2016, Anchored in Christ). The vision for UCCC was that the conference would travel to different campuses each year. This dream has become a reality. Get ready SoCal...UCCC 2017 will be held at UCLA next year!
