Founded in 1920 and located at our current address since 1950, Saint John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church is a parish of the Diocese of the West, Orthodox Church in America. We are located at 1900 Essex Street (corner of Essex St. and Adeline St.), Berkeley, CA and neighbor Ashby Bart Station. The "F" line of AC transit also stops near our parish. vices. Generally, evening services (Vigil or Vespers) begin at 5pm on Saturdays, 6pm on weekdays, and the Divine Liturgy begins at 10am. Services are conducted in English and Church Slavonic. The parish follows the Julian (Old Style) Calendar. Edward Henderson, speaks English and Russian. Lunch is offered after the Sunday Divine Liturgy.

On Sunday, July 5, we will welcome His Grace, Bishop Vasily, who will preside over a Hierarchal Liturgy. The Divine Liturgy will begin at 9:30am, followed by a festal lunch in the parish hall. All are welcome!

Our beloved sister in Christ and parishioner, Barbara Roquemore, reposed on Sunday, May 31. Her memorial and funeral services are as follows:
Tuesday, June 2, 6:00pm- Memorial Service (Панихида)
Thursday, June 11, 6:00pm- Memorial Service (Панихида)
Friday, June 12, 11:00am- Funeral Service (Отпевание)
She will be buried at her family's funeral plot in Chicago, IL. May her memory be eternal!
