Pentecost Sunday, Year AJoint Service with Epworth UMCMichael-Ray Mathews, Speaker

🕯️From this week's prayer liturgy: mfsaweb.org/candle

This week, we light the Candle of Peace, Hope, and Justice for those resisting Christian nationalism and all who are harmed when the name of Jesus is used to seek power instead of mercy, exclusion instead of belonging, and fear instead of love. In the wake of the “Rededicate 250” rally in Washington, DC, last weekend, we remember that on Pentecost God’s Holy Spirit did not speak in only one language, to only one nation, or through only one people. Instead, people from every nation under heaven heard the good news proclaimed in their own voices and recognized themselves within beloved community.

Today is Transgender Day of Visibility.

In a world that is working hard to erase you — you are still here. Still beloved. Still made in the image of God.

No legislation changes that. No headline changes that. No amount of fear changes that.

You are seen. You are sacred. You belong.

Happy Transgender Day of Visibility from Reconciling Ministries Network. 🏳️‍⚧️
