This Sunday, First Pres Care Ministries and the National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse are hosting an Annual International Overdose Awareness Day event for the city of Berkeley!

There will be speakers, resources, overdose rescue training, and naloxone distribution, followed by a special memorial for loved ones lost to overdose.
Other groups that will participate with information tables include the Berkeley Free Clinic, Love Never Fails, Berkeley Youth Alternatives, and more!

Last month's VBS Kids’ Camp was an amazing adventure on Snowball Mountain!

Our 71 campers and 65 volunteers laughed together, sang together, partnered together, prayed together, and played together. Most importantly, we learned that God is always with us, in good times and in bad, and always has a purpose for our lives. We also learned to share Jesus’s love with others through care and service!

Sally Steele is an ordained minister, tech founder, and nonprofit leader working at the intersection of nature, technology, and spirituality. She is co-founder and CEO of Outdoorithm Collective, a national nonprofit that brings families onto public lands for rest, nourishment, movement, and community, and of Outdoorithm, a social enterprise democratizing access to public lands for families new to the outdoors.

First Pres is excited to welcome the Rev. Dr. Jana Childers back to First Pres!

The Rev. Dr. Jana Childers is Professor Emerita at San Francisco Theological Seminary, where she also served as Dean. She is the author and editor of numerous books and articles about preaching, including the award-winning Birthing the Sermon: Women Preachers on Creative Process.

Jana has been a part of the First Pres family since her parents joined in the late seventies. We look forward to having her preach this Sunday, Aug 23 and next Sunday Aug 30. Join us in worship at every Sunday 10 am!

First Pres Music Director James Parrish Smith invites you to join his new choir, Mosaic Voices!

Mosaic Voices is a welcoming community choir where people of all identities, backgrounds, experiences, and voice parts come together in song, friendship, and belonging. Mosaic will explore music from a wide variety of traditions, including gospel, spirituals, classical, folk, global music, contemporary works.
