Update

Beloveds, there are not words enough to express how grateful I am that we are all in shared ministry together. These are days when community is our rallying point and our protection and our strength. I want to share an important message with you that’s new for us at your UUA - a State of the Association meant to update you on the work of your Association, invite you into further collaboration, and offer the kind of transparency that is required for all of us to hold the heart of the faith together.

Join me and colleagues, the Rev. Nancy McDonald Ladd and Carey McDonald for a special online event on Monday, March 30 at 3pm EDT/2pm CDT/12pm PDT. We’ll share an unprecedented view into programs and planning happening at your UUA, with an invitation into multiple pathways of deeper partnership. Together, we can continue the essential work building a bridge toward a more liberated and thriving future for generations to come.

Simply the human respect rule.

We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.

Baldwin reminds us that disagreement is healthy only when it respects human dignity. Love cannot survive when one side denies the other’s right to exist or be fully human. True dialogue requires empathy, fairness, and recognition of shared humanity. Without that foundation, disagreement becomes harm rather than understanding.

I am heartbroken and grieving alongside you all, beloveds, as we bear witness to yet another murder of an observer in Minneapolis. May these words of prayer be a small comfort in these terrible times.
