This is Louis Klingert speaking, I think circumcision is cruel, sick, and barbaric. It is exactly like cutting the eyelids off of a baby, they will probably live and the body will adapt, but they will be misérable and uncomfortable the rest of their life. It is there for protection, and the child is not given a choice. It they want to do it when they are old enough, that is their choice. I bet there won't be many. I have heard the baby's scream so bad, they give themselves hernias, and the nurses and doctors are forced to hold them down and do these procedures. It's not fair to anybody.
Yes, the Bible commands circumcision for male infants as a sign of God's covenant with Abraham and his descendants (Genesis 17:10-14), to be performed on the eighth day. However, in New Testament Christianity, physical circumcision is not a requirement for salvation, with passages like Acts 15 and Galatians 5 emphasizing that faith in Jesus and being a "new creation" are what matter, not adherence to the Old Testament law.
Old Testament (Covenant with Abraham)
Command: God told Abraham that every male in his household, including servants and foreigners, must be circumcised as a physical sign of the everlasting covenant between God and His people.
Timing: The practice was to be done on the eighth day after birth.
Significance: It marked the Israelites as God's chosen people, part of His special relationship with them.
New Testament (Christian Perspective)
No Longer Required: The early Christian church debated whether Gentile converts needed to be circumcised, deciding it wasn't necessary for salvation (Acts 15).
Spiritual vs. Physical: The focus shifted to "circumcision of the heart" (Deuteronomy 10:16) and being a "new creation in Christ" (Galatians 6:15).
Freedom in Christ: The Apostle Paul taught that physical circumcision holds no spiritual value in Christ and that relying on it for salvation makes Christ of no value (Galatians 5:2, 6).
In summary, the Bible commands male circumcision as a foundational sign for ancient Israel, but New Testament teachings distinguish this physical act from the spiritual requirements of Christian faith, where it is not a prerequisite.
