In Isaiah 22, we find the prophet giving an oracle about the Valley of Vision, where he calls the Lord's people to see the insufficiency of everything else and turn instead to the Lord of hosts, Who alone can bear their burdens. Alec Motyer summarizes the passage this way:
"In a word, the ‘story-line’ of the whole oracle is the question, Where is security found? In Isaiah’s teaching, when city (1–14), individual (15–19) and family (20–25) become self-sufficient, they have committed the unforgivable sin."
The only remedy for them, and for us, is to abandon all hopes of self-sufficiency and instead place our hope in Christ, Who alone is sufficient to redeem, protect, and restore.
We will gather to worship at 5 PM this Lord's Day and would love to have you join us to hear more.
We'll sing these songs together in worship.
