Holy One,

Bless every student—from the youngest child taking their first steps into a classroom to every adult continuing to learn and grow. Bless every teacher, counselor, librarian, bus driver, administrator, cafeteria worker, custodian, and volunteer whose care helps shape lives each day.

May their backpacks carry more than books and laptops. May they also carry curiosity, courage, kindness, and compassion. When lessons are difficult, grant perseverance. When friendships are tested, nurture empathy. When success comes, inspire humility. When failure comes, remind us that every new day offers another chance to learn.

We especially lift up those who begin this year with burdens unseen: those worried about having enough, those facing hunger or housing insecurity, those carrying grief, anxiety, loneliness, or fear. Surround them with communities of generosity, dignity, and love. Help us become the people who notice, who share, who advocate, and who ensure that no one walks alone.

Bless their backpacks as symbols of possibility. May they remind us that learning is sacred, questions are welcome, every person bears the image of God, and every classroom can become a place where justice, belonging, and hope take root.

Send us into this school year ready to learn from one another, to celebrate our differences, to seek truth with open minds, and to love our neighbors with open hearts.

In the spirit of Christ, who welcomed all and taught us to love without exception, we pray.
