The Neighborhood Church

The Neighborhood Church A place for families to call their “church home.” Sundays at 10:00am. In fact, we see
this church as a movement!

People move into a neighborhood for a
variety of reasons: a growing family,
downsizing, to be closer to family,
friends, closer to work, a new start...

We believe people move into churches
for the same reasons. Life is a constant movement and so is our
relationship with God. Our hope is that
through The Neighborhood you can move
into a deeper relationship with God.

No one else can pursue God for you. Pastor Joe's reminder is direct: stay close to Jesus yourself. Watch, share, and keep going.

Have you ever noticed how much energy it takes to hold everything together?

The schedule. The family. The responsibilities. The plans. The future. We spend so much of life gripping tightly to the things we care about that we rarely stop to ask: What happens if I let go?

This Sunday, Pastor Joe concludes Milestones: Moments of Faith with a personal message called Let Go and Let God. As he prepares to begin a summer sabbatical, he will reflect on faith, trust, leadership, family, and the challenge of releasing control when God is inviting us into something new.

Through the stories of Jesus stepping away to pray, the disciples learning to trust, and the Psalmist lifting his eyes toward God, we’ll explore a simple but difficult truth: our help does not come from our effort, our plans, or our ability to keep everything moving. Our help comes from the Lord.

Whether you’re facing a transition, carrying a heavy responsibility, or simply feeling tired, this message is an invitation to pause, breathe, look up, and remember that God is still at work.
______
Key Takeaways
Head Change (we hope you learn this...):
Faith is not only about doing more for God. Faith is also learning to trust God enough to release control and remember who is truly carrying the weight.

Heart Change (we hope you feel this...):
Your identity is not rooted in what you accomplish, produce, fix, or lead. Your identity is rooted in being loved and sustained by God.

Life Change (we hope you live this...):
Create intentional space to look up, reconnect with God, and trust Him with the people, responsibilities, and future that you care about most.
______
Key Scripture Passages
• Mark 1:35–37
Jesus withdraws to a quiet place to pray, reminding us that stepping away is not abandoning responsibility but reconnecting with the One who sustains us.

• John 13:33–36
Jesus tells His disciples, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now,” reminding us that some journeys of faith are deeply personal and cannot be delegated.

•Psalm 121:1–8
The Psalmist lifts his eyes and asks where help comes from, ultimately declaring that true help comes from the Lord.

Today was one of those good, sweaty, practical church-family days.

A great crew showed up to help clean out the old Neighborhood barn, haul what needed hauling, sort what needed sorting, and make real progress together. Thank you to everyone who gave part of your Saturday to serve.

You made a big job feel lighter, and you helped care for a space that has been part of TNC's story. We are grateful for every box lifted, every pallet moved, every dumpster load, and every person who jumped in.

This is what loving our neighbors looks like in work gloves.

There are moments in life where everything changes. A graduation. A confirmation. A goodbye. A new beginning. A moment where you realize faith is no longer just something you’ve heard about, but something you have to live.

This Sunday at The Neighborhood Church, Pastor Tom will share a message called Breathe Again as we celebrate Confirmation Sunday and reflect on Pentecost, baptism, and the movement of the Holy Spirit through ordinary people. Together, we’ll explore what happens when God breathes new life into weary hearts and reminds us that we are never walking alone.

Through Psalm 51, Joel, Matthew, and Acts 2, we are reminded that God’s Spirit is still moving today. The same Spirit that empowered the disciples at Pentecost still renews hearts, calls people forward, and gives courage for the road ahead. This weekend also gives us space to honor legacy, remember those who came before us, and celebrate a new generation stepping into faith with courage and hope.
__________
Key Takeways from Today
Head Change (we hope you learn this):
The Holy Spirit is not distant or symbolic but actively present, renewing and empowering the Church today.

Heart Change (we hope you feel this):
Trust that God still works through ordinary people, including you, to bring hope, encouragement, and faith into the world.

Life Change (we hope you live this out):
Live with openness to the movement of the Holy Spirit by encouraging others, remembering your baptism, and courageously stepping into the places God is calling you.
