Rebekah Finney’s Mother’s Day prayer:
Oh Father,
You are so good, and you are forever faithful. Thank you for the joy of motherhood and the vital role that mothers provide.
We lift up all of those who may be grieving the loss of their mom, grandmother, or mother figure. That loss is so deep, Lord. We remember them, and we ask you to tend to their hearts like a Shepherd. Comfort them as only you can. Fill our hearts with gratitude, as we look back on the memories and gratitude for all that these women meant to us and the role that they played in our lives.
We also specifically want to recognize those women who are longing for a family and desiring to be moms. Help them to know that they have not been forgotten. Fill them with your peace that passes all understanding, that they know that you have a specific plan for their lives. Nothing is impossible with you, Lord. Would you help them to trust you and to persevere one day at a time. And would you fulfill your purposes for them now in the waiting—in their desire to be moms—and that all of that would be in your timing and your perfect plan.
Father, I ask your blessing over all the moms women who have stepped into kids’ lives as mom figures. Moms play such a vital role—they have such a profound impact. We honor these ladies. We want them to know that they’re valued, loved, and seen. Every moment of every day—through the best of days and through the hardest of days. Pour out your strength and wisdom as we care for and shepherd our children, especially on those days when the load feels too heavy to bear. Lord, we are fully dependent on you. We want to steward this well. Fill us with peace, joy, and patience as we pour that out onto our family. Help us to persevere when we’re weary and to find joy through the sacrifice.
And, Lord, for the women who have grown children—give us grace to release them, and trust, Lord, that you are with them and that you have their future.
We ultimately ask you to refine us and grow us closer to you through this journey of motherhood. We ask your blessing on all of these ladies today. All glory and honor to you.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
