DID YOU KNOW THIS? The partridge in a pear tree is Jesus Christ. Two turtle doves are the Old and New Testaments. Three French hens stand for faith, hope, and love. The four calling birds are the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament. The six geese a-laying stand for the six days of creation. Seven swans a-swimming represent the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy. The eight maids a-milking are the eight Beatitudes. Nine ladies dancing are the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control. The ten lords a-leaping are the Ten Commandments. The eleven pipers piping stand for the eleven faithful disciples. The twelve drummers drumming symbolize the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed. So there is your history lesson for today!
Merry Christmas!

Happy Palm Sunday everyone!!

Today’s scripture reading: Luke 19:28-40 (NRSV)
Jesus’ Trimphal entry into Jerusalem:
After he had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. When he had come near Bethphage and Bethany, at the place called the Mound of Olives, he aent two of the disciples, saying, “Go into the village ahead of you, and as you enter it you will find tied there a c**t that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, Why are you untying it?” just say this, “ The Lord needs it.” So those who were sent departed and found it as he had told them. As they were in untying the c**t, it’s owners asked them, “ Why are you untying the c**t?” they said, “The Lotd needs it.” As he rode along, people kept spreading their cloaks on the road. As he was now approaching the path down from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with loud voice for all the deeds off power that they had seen, saying, “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven!” Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to them , “Teacher, order your disciples to stop” He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the stones would shout out”
