Ps 47. The Lord Most High is awesome!! He is greatly exalted!! Le us Exalt Him today!

“Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! For the LORD Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth. He will subdue the peoples under us, And the nations under our feet. He will choose our inheritance for us, The excellence of Jacob whom He loves. Selah God has gone up with a shout, The LORD with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding. God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne. The princes of the people have gathered together, The people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; He is greatly exalted.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭47‬:‭1‬-‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Ps 46. A very present help in trouble! God will never leaves us or forsake us! That is so very comforting. If you are struggling, just know that He is with you! Even if you know you caused your own trouble. He is there! Trust in His Word and promises! Ask according to His will and He hears you! He responds to His Word and to your faith! Just trust Him!

“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who has made desolations in the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46‬:‭1‬-‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Ps 45. I have to admit going through Psalms has been a bit challenging for me. The meaning of what has been written has been difficult to surmise, so I have had to research a little, and then I wonder how accurate that research actually is. Some writings are quite lengthy and others not so much. I encourage you to study out the Psalms and their meaning for yourself. This one seems to be referring to a royal wedding. In short, Christ and His bride, the church. Can you see it? Let me know what you get from this Psalm! I have attached one article in the comments.

“My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. You are fairer than the sons of men; Grace is poured upon Your lips; Therefore God has blessed You forever. Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One, With Your glory and Your majesty. And in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness; And Your right hand shall teach You awesome things. Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King’s enemies; The peoples fall under You. Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions. All Your garments are scented with myrrh and aloes and cassia, Out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made You glad. Kings’ daughters are among Your honorable women; At Your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir. Listen, O daughter, Consider and incline your ear; Forget your own people also, and your father’s house; So the King will greatly desire your beauty; Because He is your Lord, worship Him. And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; The rich among the people will seek your favor. The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace; Her clothing is woven with gold. She shall be brought to the King in robes of many colors; The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to You. With gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought; They shall enter the King’s palace. Instead of Your fathers shall be Your sons, Whom You shall make princes in all the earth. I will make Your name to be remembered in all generations; Therefore the people shall praise You forever and ever.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭45‬:‭1‬-‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Ps 44. In going through the psalms, sometimes it is taking me a day or two to reflect on them before making any kind of comment. I am not a Bible scholar, so some things that I read in the Psalms are challenging to determine the meaning of. We have to remember that God dealt differently with everyone in the Old Testament because they were under a different covenant. And we also have to remember they did not have the Bible or the word of God at their disposal like we have now. The new covenant that we have in Christ Jesus is so much better and the word that we now have helps us to understand God‘s character in a way that I don’t know that they understood in the Old Testament. So these are things that I try to keep in mind as I read through these passages and I encourage you to remember as well. Just because something is in God‘s word does not mean that it is always specifically describing His character or will on something. Many things in the word are reciting history and customs and how people responded and describing how they felt about what was going on. David was a musician songwriter, which means he was a very sensitive soul. He was describing in these passages how he felt often times and how it seemed to him, not necessarily God‘s actual character or what God was actually doing. We sometimes may feel the same way David did, but we always need to remember that God is love. His character is love and faithfulness and He is holy! He never leaves us or forsakes us even if we feel like He isn’t answering us! Our feelings are not true gauges of God’s response to us! His thoughts toward us are for good and not for evil! Praise God, He has made a way for us in every situation!

“We have heard with our ears, O God, Our fathers have told us, The deeds You did in their days, In days of old: You drove out the nations with Your hand, But them You planted; You afflicted the peoples, and cast them out. For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, Nor did their own arm save them; But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, Because You favored them. You are my King, O God; Command victories for Jacob. Through You we will push down our enemies; Through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, Nor shall my sword save me. But You have saved us from our enemies, And have put to shame those who hated us. In God we boast all day long, And praise Your name forever. Selah But You have cast us off and put us to shame, And You do not go out with our armies. You make us turn back from the enemy, And those who hate us have taken spoil for themselves. You have given us up like sheep intended for food, And have scattered us among the nations. You sell Your people for next to nothing, And are not enriched by selling them. You make us a reproach to our neighbors, A scorn and a derision to those all around us. You make us a byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the peoples. My dishonor is continually before me, And the shame of my face has covered me, Because of the voice of him who reproaches and reviles, Because of the enemy and the avenger. All this has come upon us; But we have not forgotten You, Nor have we dealt falsely with Your covenant. Our heart has not turned back, Nor have our steps departed from Your way; But You have severely broken us in the place of jackals, And covered us with the shadow of death. If we had forgotten the name of our God, Or stretched out our hands to a foreign god, Would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart. Yet for Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Arise! Do not cast us off forever. Why do You hide Your face, And forget our affliction and our oppression? For our soul is bowed down to the dust; Our body clings to the ground. Arise for our help, And redeem us for Your mercies’ sake.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭44‬:‭1‬-‭26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Ps 43. Even in the midst of trouble, the light and truth of God will lead us and guide us into His presence! In His presence is fullness of joy and at His right hand are pleasures forevermore! Oh praise His Holy Name!!

“Vindicate me, O God, And plead my cause against an ungodly nation; Oh, deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man! For You are the God of my strength; Why do You cast me off? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? Oh, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill And to Your tabernacle. Then I will go to the altar of God, To God my exceeding joy; And on the harp I will praise You, O God, my God. Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.”

Ps 42. “As the deer pants for water so my soul pants for You, O God.” These words are often never more prevalent than when we are faced with difficulty. And yet twice in this passage, David asks himself, “why are you cast down O my soul, why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I will yet praise Him for the help of His countenance!” Just like David, we may wonder where the answers to our difficulties and prayers are, yet we can have confident hope in our God and the help of His countenance!! When His face shines upon us, all the darkness flees!! Praise His Holy name!!

“The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” ’”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭6‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“The Lord will command His loving kindness in the daytime” upon you!!

“As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me, “Where is your God?” When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go with the multitude; I went with them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast. Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance. O my God, my soul is cast down within me; Therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan, And from the heights of Hermon, From the Hill Mizar. Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me. The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me— A prayer to the God of my life. I will say to God my Rock, “Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?” As with a breaking of my bones, My enemies reproach me, While they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭42‬:‭1‬-‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Ps 41. In this passage, it talks of the blessing that comes on those who consider the poor. Jesus said the poor would always be with us. He also said He came to preach the good news (gospel) to the poor. What is that good news? That they do not have to remain poor!! God has given us the power to get wealth, so that we might establish His covenant! Jesus was rich, but for our sakes became “poor” that we through His poverty might become rich! This is good news! Yes, we need to help the poor, and there is blessings that come with helping those less fortunate. But even more so, we need to share with them the good news of Jesus Christ and what He has provided for them!! Blessed be the Lord God from everlasting to everlasting!!

“Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed. I said, “Lord, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.” My enemies speak evil of me: “When will he die, and his name perish?” And if he comes to see me, he speaks lies; His heart gathers iniquity to itself; When he goes out, he tells it. All who hate me whisper together against me; Against me they devise my hurt. “An evil disease,” they say, “clings to him. And now that he lies down, he will rise up no more.” Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me. But You, O Lord, be merciful to me, and raise me up, That I may repay them. By this I know that You are well pleased with me, Because my enemy does not triumph over me. As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And set me before Your face forever. Blessed be the Lord God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen.”
