In 1966 Minister William Nichols, after serving three years as Assistant Pastor under Overseer Versie Flake, was lead of the Lord to start a work at 294 Paw-Paw Ave. The church had its humble beginning with Min. Nichols, His wife Martha and three children, Wilbur, William & Cheryl. After a few months the Lord started blessing with a few Adults; Mother Annie Page with three children, the Robinson c
hildren, the Bownes children, later their mother, Ruby Bownes and her husband James, Mother Dorothy Kellie, Mother Bertha Anderson, The James Jones family, Carnell Jones family, Mo. Bernice Johnson and five children, Mother Martha Kyles, Mother Sarah Butler and Sister Anita Lewis. The building was getting to small so the church moved to 117 S. Seely and stayed there one year until the smoke and rain caused us to seek another Sanctuary. The church moved to Eastland Ave. and stayed until the Lord blessed Pastor Nichols to purchase a lot at 435 Felton Ave. The building had been started by another church with the foundation and part of the basement walls. The Pastor was not a builder neither was he a builder’s son, but the Lord showed him how to build not only the church but pews to go with ones we already had. The Lord blessed him to complete the building in 1970. The renovations of our church have taken on many face lifts to get where we are today. Many souls have been saved and added to the church. There is now a membership of well over 200+. About 10 years ago we purchased our current pews. We own over ten (10) lots and two (2) houses on this street. In 2010 we purchased 2 busses to go with our van to provide transportation for the saints. We truly thank God for the oversight of this great man of God and for his manifold blessings. We can truly say, “We have come this far by Faith”.
