It's National Kite Flying Day! The history of the kite dates back over 10,000 years and has been used over time for artistic, scientific and cultural purposes. Ben Franklin's famous kite experiment proved that lightning was caused by electricity and the Wright brothers used kites for research as they developed the first airplane.
