Sermon: God Don’t Like Complaining
Scripture: Philippians 2:14-16

14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain.

INTRODUCTION

In Philippians 2:15, 16, Paul the Apostle, gives us some important qualities that need to be in our lives. He said that we are to be blameless, harmless, sons of God, without rebuke, stars in the midst of a perverse generation, and those who hold forth the word of life. Paul said that if the Philippians fulfilled these things, then he would be able to rejoice in the day of Christ knowing that he had not labored in vain. Will you be able to rejoice in that day as well?
Paul listed five things that have to do with two main areas: purity and evangelistic endeavors. They are the following:
1. Blameless –This expresses a life of such purity that none can find anything in it with which to find fault. We must not only be pure, but also our purity must be seen by all. Daniel is an example of one who was blameless (Dan. 6:4).
2. Harmless –This means innocent and uncontaminated, unmixed, or unadulterated. It implies motives which are sincere and pure.
3. Without rebuke –This describes our relationship with God. It literally means without blemish, faultless, and unrebukeable. We need to live such lives that we are blameless in God’s eyes as well as in the eyes of men.
4. Shine as lights –Our life needs to be as a guiding star or a beacon to those who are lost. They need to be able to see Christ clearly from afar
(14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.)
5. Hold forth the Word –We need to proclaim and to offer the Word of God to those who are around us. They cannot be saved unless someone preaches the gospel to them.

(14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?) (Rom. 10:14)

Their only hope is in us. We must tell them about Jesus.
Paul said that these five things were so important that if the Philippians did them, he was sure that he could rejoice before Christ. But what was the key to releasing these possessions in our lives? Verse 14 tells us that doing all things without murmuring and disputing. The children of Israel failed to enter the Promised Land, because of their always complaining and murmuring against Moses, God, and one other they thought was the blame.

CONCLUSION

Our words are very important! They cause us to hit the mark or worse, to stray off course. Are you a complainer? Ask God to give you faith and a renewed mind so that you can hit the mark God has for your life. Don’t let faith be robbed by your words, rather use your words to build up others so that you too can be all God wants you to be. Stop complaining, stop your grumbling!

PRAYER: Dear Lord, this is the day you have made, so let us rejoice and be glad in it. Do not allow the enemy to steal our joy! Father, teach us to be grateful in all circumstances. Do not let our hearts become heavy with resentment and envy. Do not let my heart be proud and rebellious. Take out of my heart the corruption. Purge away the dross that remains. May we live such lives that we are blameless in Your eyes. In Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN.

Sermon: We Are God's Trophies
Scripture: Ephesians 2:7-9

7 So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. 8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Did you know that the devil cannot stand to see anybody who is praised or given honor more than himself. There are some people out there who just like the devil, who cannot stand for anyone to be given praised, except for themselves.

Remember, Job was given a lot of attention because of his outstanding character and him being righteous. God first drew Satan's attention to Job. Have you consider my man Job. Satan seeing righteous Job, who was very prosperous and blessed of God, accused God of bribing Job so that he would act piously. In otherwords, Satan was saying to God, You have to pay Job in order for him to love You and serve You.

Do You love God and serve God to receive from Him? Is that the reason you are being good, sweet and kind? Is this what we would call, reaping what we sow?

What if you never got a single blessing from God, would you still love and obey Him? Would you still worship God?

It might be difficult if the gangs in your neighborhood attack you, your house and all your stuff went up in a fire, then some more neighborhood folks came out and cleaned out your garage and helping themselves to the lawn mower, tools and pick-up truck, and, oh yeah, a tornado came and took away all the rest of your family. You would not think much for people and of God, for it would seem that everyone had turned against you.

Ephesians 2:7 says that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of His grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. Now the book of Job reveals that while God usually blesses the godly and punishes the ungodly, He does not always do so in this life. There is a more fundamental basis from which God operates. That basis is His own free choice to bless or not bless whomever He will. We can trust and obey God and it doesn't conclude that He owes us blessing in this life. May we never think that we can control God because we trust and obey. This was Satan's problem; he has consistently failed to appreciate God's grace.

It was God the Father, that brought me liberty, victory by the riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through His Son Jesus Christ. Christ gave me salvation by the shedding of His blood. We were forgiven so that God could display His infinite grace. Before heaven and earth God is going to show, He is going to give proof of His grace. That proof is us, all those who were washed by the blood of the Lamb. We are His trophies! His walking trophies, for all to see!

God chose you and me by His grace, He chose us before He created the stars. He wrote our names upon His heart before he laid the foundations of the earth. He called us before He created the seas. He brought forth His best robe and put it on us. He adopted us into His family and calls us His children.

Galatians 2:16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. Remember, 8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to remember, that no matter what happens in this world and in my life, God, You are on Your throne and You have everything under control. May we all find You, Lord, in our suffering, in our afflictions, in our good times and bad times, when we have much and when we have little. Like Job. we don't need to know why if we know You, Father. Knowing You is better than knowing answers. And Father, whatever You permit upon me, so that Your power can be manifest for my good, may it draw me nearer and nearer to You. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Sermon: The Surpassingly Awesome Jesus
Scripture: Isaiah 6:1-5

INTRODUCTION

After watching the 2020 Democratic Convention, and seeing the corruptness in our government and in our land, I began thinking critically and biblically of what I know about good and evil in all of us. I am reminded of how the good kings of Judah got off to great starts, but somewhere along the way, they began to cool off and become distant towards the Lord. When we forget our great need for the Lord, our hearts get lifted up, we feel secure in ourselves, we need nothing, and we no longer need an intimate relationship with the Lord.

The Daily Bread had an article called the “Holy One of Israel,” and it takes you into the book of Isaiah. Isaiah opens his book with five summary chapters in which he introduces his readers to the “Holy One of Israel,” a term he uses 25 times. The prophet first views the “Holy One” as that unsurpassingly awesome being whose greatness and moral goodness is beyond our human comprehension. The word should be, surpassing, which means to go beyond the limits of; to be greater than. Limited as we are by time and space, how can we grasp the concept of His eternal self-existence and simultaneous presence everywhere in His universe? Living as we do in an ever-changing world, how can we conceive of a being who always remains the same? Existing as we do with a mixture of good and evil within ourselves and everything around us, how can we understand absolute moral integrity?

What is moral Integrity as attached to the Holy One of Israel?

Moral integrity - is doing the right thing when no one is watching. We know what is right and wrong, and we choose to do the right thing. ... When doing the wrong thing has a pot of gold at the end of it or when doing the right thing might end up hurting you, that's when-moral integrity-of that person reveals itself.
Integrity - means following your moral or ethical convictions and doing the right thing in all circumstances, even if no one is watching you. Having integrity - means you are true to yourself and would do nothing that demeans or dishonors you.

Isaiah presents this Holy One of Israel, whose greatness and perfection are beyond our understanding, but knowable and near. The one who is reaching down to us, making Himself known to us, telling us what He expects from us, and relating with us when we humbly trust Him. He is knowable, near, and available. The dual truth of God’s transcendence (not bound by time and space) and immanence (everywhere present) is expressed beautifully in Isaiah 57:15.
This is what the high and lofty One says—He who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.”
When king Uzziah died after a long rule of 52 years, God gave young Isaiah a vision in which He revealed something of what it means for Him to be called the Holy One, the one being in all the universe who is incomprehensible and uncompromising in His greatness and moral goodness.
I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above Him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.” At the sound of their voices, the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke (6:1-4).
Isaiah was overwhelmed at the sight of the angelic beings covering their faces to shield their eyes from the blinding brightness of the throne and the sound of their chant. He was afraid he was going to die on the spot and was filled with a profound sense of his own sinfulness and that of his nation:
“Woe to me!” I cried, “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty” (6:5).
It was known in Old Testament times that anyone who has seen God would surely die. They would die because the sinful man would be destroyed by the glory of God. In the Bible, those who have been given a vision of God’s majesty always react with awe and fear because they are overcome with a realization of their weakness, their smallness, and their sinfulness: Job (42:4-6), Moses (Exodus 33:12-23), Daniel (10:7-19), Saul of Tarsus (Acts 9:1-9), John (Rev. 1:9-18). And these were only visions! No human has ever seen the unveiled glory of God:
God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To Him be honor and might forever. Amen (1 Tim. 6:15-16).
No wonder even the godliest people experience a mingling of eager anticipation and uneasy apprehension at the thought of meeting God on the other side of death! How fitting are the words of Hebrews 12:28-29, “Let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.”

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, You are always present with Your people and that You are always faithful to Your word and Your covenant. Your word says You keep steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, You visit the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.” You appeared before Moses in all You brightness, Your radiance O God, from Moses anticipated the climax in Christ. Christ is “the radiance of Your glory O God”. Thank you, Lord, that we who have communion with Christ are transformed so as to reflect the glory of Christ: Life is wasted when we do not live for the glory of God. It is for all of life, and all for His glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Sermon: An impure Heart Always Produces Impureness
Scripture: Haggai 1-2

With the Babylonian exile in the past and a newly returned group of Jews back in the land of Jerusalem, the work of rebuilding the can begin. However, sixteen years after the process is begun, the people have yet to finish the project, for their personal affairs have interfered with God’s business. Haggai preaches a fiery series of sermonettes designed to stir up the nation to finish the temple. He calls the builders to renewed courage in the Lord, renewed holiness of life, and renewed faith in God who controls the future.
The name Haggai means festival. It may also be an abbreviated form of haggiah, “festival of Yahweh.” Haggai’s name means “festal” or “festive.” Possibly because he was born on the day of a major feast, such as the feast of Tabernacle.
In 520 BC Haggai addressed his words to the people in Judah and Jerusalem who had returned from exile. He urged them to get their act together, to set their priorities straight, and to rebuild the temple (Haggai 1:1-11). Only then, he said, would God bring true blessing back upon them.
The problem was that when the people first returned from exile in 538 BC as a result of King Cyrus’s decree, they made a good start in beginning to rebuild the temple, but now apathy had set in and the whole project had stagnated (Ezra 4:4-5). The people were too busy building their own homes to pay much attention to the temple.
What can we learn from the book of Haggai? Here are three essential takeaways:
1. We pay a price when we PROCRASTINATE on spiritual matters.
Haggai reprimanded the people for procrastinating in building the temple (Haggai 1:2-6). They had built their own houses but were indifferent about God’s house. They were exhorted to begin rebuilding immediately (1:7-8). Haggai said the reason God had not blessed them was that they had forgotten Him (1:9-11). God rewards those who put Him first and seek to do His will.
2. Bible PROPHECY can put wind in your spiritual sails.
To instill hope in the people, Haggai informed them that one day in the future, the heavens will be shaken (Haggai 2:20-21), evil people will be overthrown (2:22), and the Messiah will be exalted (2:23). Zerubbabel, a leader among the people, was portrayed as a symbol of the Messiah who is coming. This future hope motivated righteousness among Haggai’s contemporaries.
The same is true of God’s people today. Titus 2:12-13 exhorts believers to “renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.” The prophetic future gives hope to those living in the present.
3. It is good to review your PRIORITIES from time to time.
Haggai reminded the people that while they busied themselves with their own houses, the house of God—the temple—was lying in ruins. The people cared more about themselves than they cared for God. This showed that their priorities were out of balance. Haggai put the people back on track, keeping God and His temple the top priority (Haggai 1:9-11). Haggai exhorts, “Consider your ways” (1:5,7).
Lesson learned! Let us consider our ways and make every effort to keep our priorities straight on a daily basis.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, let our prayers be as David prayed; Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me with thy free spirit. Help us, Lord, not to be entrenched with materialistic pride and greed where we are no longer obedient to You. Your word tells me, You will not bless an impure people who do not repent. We know You will overcome all opposition. Thank you, Lord, that You are still with me. Help me to keep my focus on You first and to always do Your will. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

Sermon: WE ARE HEADING TOWARDS END TIMES
Scripture: 1 Timothy 4:1-5

1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry, [and commanding] to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God [is] good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1Ti 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

INTRODUCTION

What we have here is a prophecy of the apostasy (rejection and abandonment) that will take place in later times. This was spoken by the prophets as what the churches were to expect and something that would be taken for granted by Christians. (Read 2 Thes. 2)

Do you think we are in those times now? Can you see what is going on around you? What are you doing about it today?

I. Watch yourself for Satan is at work spreading lies

A. John 14:17 the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

B. John 16:13 when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

C. Act 20:22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
Act 20:23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

When you are compelled by the Spirit, it is like God has a grip on your soul. He is directing you by His Holy Spirit and He is confirming His purposes to you.

II. KEEPING A CLEAR CONSCIENCE

A. The conscience, rightly trained, helps us to know right from wrong. A seared (burned, sealed) conscience is one that has become numb to the point that it can no longer easily distinguish between good and evil.

B. Regular prayer, including asking for forgiveness, praying for enemies, and thanking God, helps us have a clear conscience.

C. The Greek word is literally a "good conscience," with the emphasis upon moral goodness. The moral consciousness is not always pure (1 Ti 4:2). Christians in daily witnessing and living must continuously treat other people in such a way enemies will have no evidence to talk against us. Rather, enemies will be ashamed because of our good behavior. Life in this vein keeps the conscience clear.

D. A clear character, as well as a pure conscience, is requisite for usefulness. They brought glory to Christ as instruments, and had obtained honor from Christ to be counted faithful, and employed in his service.

III. WRONG TEACHINGS, DEMONIC TEACHINGS OF HERETICS

A. They were forbidding divinely ordained institutions and provisions like marriage and certain foods. Things that God has created and to be received with gratitude.

B. Today many churches and their leaders are teaching that it is okay for homosexuals to be who they are. It is okay for them to marry. It is okay for boys or girls to switch gender roles. Should boys participate in girls’ sports? There is talk of doing away with chickens and eggs and cows and airplanes because they are destroying the ecological system and producing climate changes.

C. Abortion is accepted because it is unwanted, it disrupts life's plans, and necessary for population control.

How do we know if we are following the ordinance of God? In the Bible, God outlines authority structures that provide directions for the family, church, workplace, and government. He has ordained three institutions; the home, government, and the church.

The homes have changed, the definition of marriage has changed, and the definition of the family has changed.
The government's roles have changed from the:
1. commendation of good
2. punishment of evil
3. maintenance of peace
4. protection of the oppressed
(1 Peter 2:13-14; 1 Tim 2:1-2, Isaiah 10:1-2)

The church and its community of redemption are not the State but the church. No matter how much respect is due to the state, the church is never to be identified with it. As it is society continues to move away from a biblical understanding of marriage and sexual ethics.
Act 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Lastly, God has created everything to be received with gratitude. A lack of gratitude and thankfulness and demonic, idolatrous influence go hand in hand.
Romans 1:21-23

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23 And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

There is nothing from which you receive godly enjoyment and benefit that cannot be traced back to God. Therefore, we are to give thanks to God always and in everything. Eph. 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we acknowledge Your Sovereignty over the whole world and certainly over each of us. Thank you for Your Word and for Your grace helping us to live our Christian life here on earth and before all men. Help me to keep a clear conscience, peace, and quietness of spirit, so that no one can find fault and accuse You of unfaithfulness towards our reconciliation with You. I pray even that the worst of men, will find the risen Jesus and be saved. May we be grateful for all you do and learn to give thanks in all things. In Jesus' name, I pray, AMEN.

Sermon: Is The Lord Among Us Or Not
Scripture: Acts 7:37-39

37 "This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, 'The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear.'
38 This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, the one who received the living oracles to give to us,
39 whom our fathers would not obey, but rejected. And in their hearts, they turned back to Egypt,

INTRODUCTION

There seems to be a time when some Christians fail to trust God; they demand assurance when God has already spoken. The most egregious thing a Christian could ever say against God is “Is God among us or not?” They lose out on the opportunity to be used by Him and they lose out on God's blessings. Worst yet, they find themselves in a fight against God.

What is it that causes God to be grieved with them? The word of God says, they always erred in their hearts. Their heart was always being drawn toward the fleshly things more than being drawn to the things of the Spirit.

God has always been with His people. In Exodus 2:23, it tells us

23 Now it happened in the process of time that the king of Egypt died. Then the children of Israel groaned because of the bo***ge, and they cried out, and their cry came up to God because of the bo***ge.
24 So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God acknowledged them.

He says in Exodus 3:7,

7 And the LORD said: "I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
8 So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.
9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.
10 Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt."

And again He says in:

20 “ . . . I will stretch out My hand and strike Egypt with all My wonders which I will do in its midst, and after that, he will let you go.
21 And I will give these people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and it shall be when you go, that you shall not go empty-handed.”
Numbers 11:4” Who will give us meat to eat?” The same one who gave them manna. The same who provided them water, and who gave them protection. Yet they were always murmuring against the Lord, until God was fed up with murmuring and said, they preferred the earthly fare to the heavenly fare.

It comes down to this. God hates murmuring and our murmuring or complaining will keep us from entering the place of God's rest.

How long will you not know God's way? Why won't you seek God's way? Why are you so headstrong in your own ways that you won't seek the way of the Lord?

You are guilty of this sin. The sin of unbelief. You have grieved God. The bible tells us that the number 40 is significant, it signifies trials, testing, and a period that comes before results. While you live today, don't let your “carcass” fall in your wilderness journey. Stop letting your unbelief keep you from God's rest, from God's way.

The Lord your God has gone before you and He knows what is up. It is He who fights for you. He has carried you thus far in His very arms. When He hears the voice of your words and it is full of not believing Him, He is grieved.

Hebrews 3:12-14

12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;
13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today," lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,

Don't let your unbelief keep you from the promises of God. Don't say that you are not able. They are too strong, I am too weak. Don't look at the power of the enemy, but see the power of God!

The Apostle Peter said that unto us are given exceeding riches and precious promises that by these we might be made partakers of the divine nature. He said God has given unto us all that is necessary for a life of Godliness.

God has promised us abundant life in the Spirit, to go before us and conquer our enemies. Many today are still in the wilderness and have never entered into the Promised Land. We must take care that we do not let ourselves parish in the wilderness, and never having known the full blessing of living in the Spirit.

Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, and I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Will you believe God, will you trust Him? Will you trust God's way? Will you seek the way of the Lord? Then let my prayer echo these words of the Psalmist: Psalm 25:1-3
1 To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul.
2 O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me.
3 Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed;
PRAYER: Father God, James recommends to us a response to troubles when it comes our way. He tells us to count it all joy when we fall into divers temptation, knowing that the testing of my faith will produce patience, and patience will have its perfect work and that I may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. Father, I know now that through Christ's death, You are accomplishing Your will in my life; You shape me so that I reflect the character of Christ. When faced with troubles, You make me drop everything, and to trust You and to let You handle it in Your way so that You get the glory. May we never lose sight of how great You are. In Jesus' name, I pray, AMEN.
