Why would a loving God talk about judgment?

It’s a fair question, and Pastor Lawrence didn’t dodge it.

Look at who’s giving the warning. It’s the same Jesus who touched lepers and welcomed kids, and He’s walking toward Jerusalem to give His life. The warning about judgment comes from the one headed to the cross to rescue us from it.

If God shrugged at abuse, greed and cruelty, we wouldn’t call that love. We’d call it indifference.

Don’t fight sin at the finish line.

Jesus says if your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. He’s using shocking language on purpose.

Pastor Lawrence put it plainly on Sunday: stop asking how close you can get without technically sinning. Start asking how far away you can get from what keeps pulling you under.

Delete the app. Change the route home. Tell a friend the truth.

A cup of water. That’s it. People usually aren’t won over by grand gestures. They’re won over by a kind word, a little encouragement, someone who asks how they’re doing and listens to the answer.

His name isn’t a tagline you tack onto the end of a prayer. It’s a promise.

Jesus saves you out of the hard things and into the good ones. Every time you pray in his name, you’re reminding yourself of that.
