PAUSE IN HIS PRESENCE: ROMANS 10:17

"So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through The Word of Christ."

Faith is often thought of as something we must manufacture through performance, human effort, and believing stronger. Paul points us to a different source: faith grows as we hear God's Word! Just as a plant needs water and sunlight to thrive, our faith needs regular exposure to God's Word. When we read, listen, study, and reflect on God's Word, we are reminded of His Character, His Promises, and His Faithfulness! Those reminders strengthen our trust in God, especially when circumstances make faith difficult. Biblical Faith is simply trusting God's Character!

This verse also highlights the importance of hearing. God designed His Truth to be shared. Whether through personal Bible reading, sermons, conversations with other believers, or Scripture memorization, His Word continually nourishes our faith! The more we fill our minds with God's Word, the less room there is for fear, doubt, and discouragement to dominate our thinking.

If your faith feels weak today, the answer is not necessarily to try harder, but to spend time listening to what God has already spoken! His Word has The Power to renew perspective, strengthen Hope, and deepen Trust! Yay God!

PAUSE IN HIS PRESENCE: HOSEA 11:1-4

"When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son. The more they were called, the more they went away; they kept sacrificing to the Baals and burning offerings to idols. Yet it was I Who taught Ephraim to walk; I took them up in My Arms, but they did not know that I healed them. I Led them with cords of Kindness, and with bands of Love, and I became to them as One Who eases the yoke on their jaws, and I bent down to them and fed them."

God describes His relationship with Israel not as a distant ruler, but as a Loving Father! He remembers Israel's early days, recusing them from slavery in Egypt and teaching them how to live. God says He taught them to walk, carried them in His Arms, and Led them with Kindness and Love! What is striking is that Israel often failed to recognize God's Care. Despite His Faithfulness, they wandered away. Yet God's Words are filled with tenderness rather than bitterness. He focuses on His Love, His Patience, and His Compassion!

Many of us can identify with Israel's tendency to overlook God's Hand in our lives. We may forget the countless ways God has Guided, Protected, and Provided for us. However, taking time to pause and remember, we can see His Fingerprints throughout our journey - opening doors, carrying us through hardships, and teaching us to trust Him! God's Love is not based on our perfect performance / obedience. Like a caring Parent helping a child take his first steps, God patiently Guides us even when we stumble. God's Desire is not merely to command us, but to draw us close to Him through His Great Crazy Love! Yay God!

PAUSE IN HIS PRESENCE: GENESIS 3:9-11

"But The Lord God called to the man and said to him, "Where are you?" And he said, "I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself." He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?"

I love the questions of God! God's Questions are always meant to draw us closer to Him, never to condemn us! After Adam and Eve sinned, their first response was not repentance but hiding. They felt shame, guilt, fear, and separation from God. Yet the remarkable truth in this passage is that God came looking for them. When God asked, "Where are you?" He was not seeking information - He already knew where Adam was. God was inviting Adam to step out of hiding and into honest relationship!

Sin often produces the same response in us today. We may hide behind excuses, distractions, pride, or guilt. We may assume that God wants nothing to do with us after we fail. But God's Word reveals The God Who pursues His people even when they have turned away from Him. God's Questions reveal His Desire for confession and awareness. "Who told you that you were naked?" And "Have you eaten from the tree…?" invite Adam to face the truth about what happened. Our destination is connected to Who we choose to listen to! Spiritual healing begins when we stop hiding and honestly acknowledge our condition before God!

The Gospel is that God's pursuit did not end in Eden. Throughout Scripture, God continually seeks those who are lost, calling them back into fellowship with Him! His Questions are not meant to condemn, but to draw us closer to Him! Yay God!

PAUSE IN HIS PRESENCE: PSALM 23:6

"The Lord is my Shepherd;…Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in The House of The Lord forever."

Psalm 23:6 closes one of the most comforting passages about God's Love and Care! After walking through green pastures, dark valleys, and prepared tables, the psalm ends with confidence - not fear! David does not say goodness and mercy might follow him - he declares they "shall follow me!" The word "follow" here is powerful! God's Goodness is not distant or passive. His Mercy actively pursues us, even on difficult days. When we feel uncertain, tired, or undeserving, God remains Faithful! His Goodness provides what we need, and His Mercy covers where we fall short.

The final promise brings eternal Hope: "I shall dwell in The House of The Lord forever." God's Presence is not temporary. He invites us into a lifelong relationship with Him now, and eternal fellowship with Him forever! Yay God!

Today, we can live with confidence that our Good Shepherd will never abandon us! Yay God!

"The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of Righteousness for His Name's Sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your Rod and Your Staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely Goodness and Mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in The House of The Lord forever."

PAUSE IN HIS PRESENCE: PSALM 23:5

'The Lord is my Shepherd…You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows."

What a beautiful picture of God's Care that goes beyond survival. David describes a Shepherd Who becomes a Gracious Host - preparing a table, anointing with oil, and filling a cup until it overflows!

What stands out is where the table is prepared: "In the presence of my enemies." God does not always remove every difficulty immediately, but He provides Peace, Strength, and Provision right in the middle of hardship. The presence of opposition does not cancel The Presence of God!

The anointing oil symbolizes blessing, healing, refreshment, and being welcomed with honor! God is not distant or reluctant toward us. He receives us with care and compassion! David then declares, "my cup overflows." God's Goodness is not barely enough. His Grace exceeds what we need. Even in difficult seasons, He supplies comfort, mercy, wisdom, and hope in abundance! Yay God!

PAUSE IN HIS PRESENCE: PSALM 23:4

"The Lord is my Shepherd:…Even though I walk through the Valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your Rod and Your Staff, they comfort me."

Life brings valleys - seasons of grief, uncertainty, loneliness, fearing, and waiting. David did not say "if" we walk through valleys, but "though" we walk through them. Trouble is part of the journey, yet the Psalmist reminds us that we never walk alone! I find the greatest comfort in Psalm 23:4 is not the absence of danger, but The Presence of God! The Shepherd stays close to His sheep!

His "Rod" represents His Protection and Discipline, and His "Staff" represents His Guidance and Rescue! God does not merely watch us from a distance - He Leads, Protects, and Comforts us Intimately!

The Psalmist declares, "I will fear no evil." Fear may knock at the door, but faith answers it! Courage grows when we remember Who walks beside us! Valleys are temporary places; they are something we all go through, not places we stay forever. If you are in a difficult season today, may this verse be an invitation to trust God one step at a time. God sees the path ahead even when we cannot. His Presence is Stronger than our fears! Yay God!

PAUSE IN HIS PRESENCE: PSALM 23:1-3

"The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His Name's Sake."

A portrait of God's Great Love for us! David, once a shepherd himself, understands what it means for sheep to depend fully on their shepherd for protection, provision, and direction. Proclaiming "The Lord is my Shepherd," David reminds us that God's Care is personal, not distant. "I shall not want," does not mean life will always be easy or that we will possess everything we desire. It means that in Christ, we have everything we truly need! He knows our fears, burdens, and weariness, and He Faithfully provides for each day! Yay God!

The image of green pastures and still waters speaks of rest. God doesn't drive His people harshly; He leads us gently. In seasons of stress, confusion, or exhaustion, He invites us to slow down and trust Him! Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is rest in His Presence and remember that He is in Control!

"He restores my soul," is a Promise for the tired heart! God restores what anxiety drains, what disappointment weakens, and what sin damages. No matter how depleted we feel, His Grace renews and reconditions us! Yay God!

As we seek God's Guidance and Direction, He shapes our decisions, character, and purpose so that our lives reflect His Goodness! Our Shepherd's Name is on the line!

PAUSE IN HIS PRESENCE: JOHN 15:13

"Greater Love has no one than this, that someone lay down His Life for His friends."

Memorial Day is a time to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to others. Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom is costly, courage is real, and love is often shown through service and selflessness. As we reflect today, we can honor their memory not only in gratitude, but also by considering how we live our own lives.

God's Word calls us to be people of humility, compassion, and peace. The example of sacrifice we remember today points us toward The Ultimate Example of Sacrificial Love found in Jesus! Yay God!

Pause to pray for: (1) families who carry the loss of loved ones, (2) active military members and veterans, (3) leaders to pursue wisdom and peace, and (4) hearts that value unity, gratitude, and service!
